    Hello everyone,

This is my first post on these forums, but I have been a lurker for quite a long time now.

I am a webmaster of a number of successful websites, and small businesses online. The idea of creating a file sharing website has been lying dormant for a while in the back of my head. In 3 weeks I will be launching a new free file sharing website that will have a very generous upload size, and a premium membership of only .99 cents a week. This website will not be a culprit of any surveys, or popups what so ever.

I wanted to get any suggestions, and or comments from everyone here to ensure this website is released functioning in a more than acceptable level.

All questions, comments, and suggestions are appreciated.

    more than acceptable?
so i guess this would be - highest payouts around with less needed downloads, no surveys or similiar known crap, giving away a huge gb storage, including unlimited bandwith...
...you will correct me on this answer or even call me a jerk.
...but could you please be a bit more precise on the term "more than acceptable"? pretty hard to figure out without knowing your basic plans on the project.

Forgive me, just not trying to promote a product or market. I was merely offering a general informational post to get feedback such as yours.

Upload will be in the ball park of 1.5-2.0GB limit. (With exception of premium memberships, will be 4GB max.) With a small price to pay of .99 cents a week.

Yes extremely high or unlimited bandwidth.

No surveys, no click through ads, basic Google Ads, and affiliate only.

Did that answer your questions sufficiently?

i do not need to "forgive" you...
...as there isn`t anything wrong or bad you did. :)

i was just picking on the statement "more than acceptable" and missing some detail...
...because in my eyes it would be more than acceptable if you could use a share-host without surveys. it just sucks. i will never do any surveys - as well as i wouldn`t use them as a moneymaker.
if you then wouldn`t die in a pop-up coma either or get lost in all those "downlad now"-buttons and more of those pop-ups : that would basically build the core foundaition for me to get into "more-than-acceptable"-mode.
as well as 99 cents a week sounds generous too.

if you would build a share-host that is empowered using adsense and affiliate marketing only...providing a decent system in terms of speed, file-size, protection etc. on such pricing - you would be pretty much in a ery good spot.

but still something isn`t giving me the whole picture of your project...
...what is the user benefit? which conditions would you want to credit on that side?

The user benefits would be a quick, easy to use fully functional interface without annoying ads, click through, or surveys for starters. This website will not include any misleading "Download Now" buttons or any misleading Ads for benefit.

For the first 30 days I will not be advertising the website, and or marketing it. I will have a 14 day period of only offering the link to websites like this for a beta period. Once the users have submitted feedback, and recommendations I will continue as planned.

We will also feature member forums for all users.. Free, and premium to share direct files and discuss such topics. (The legality side of this will be handled accordingly.)

could well be i am missing something out - so basically you are talking about an storage app/service like the popular ones around?
or is there a way for the user to earn with it on the basic file-share system.

Earnings from users on file sharing on a file hosting website would be a legal disaster. What you see if what you get so far. PM me if you are interested in working on the front/back end of the project.

    :tumblewee
    ....aaalright.
...but how would such a concept attract any users? who would pay you money, to use basically a storage host?
let`s just take 2 steps back and have a look...
...if i was just about to share files to people i know and there is no financial interest on my side - i just use a storage host that gives me way more space for nada bucks. there are more than enough out there. and they aren`t annoying either.
the only other legal use i see that would require me a way to have a link from a share-host doesn`t give sense to me too.

i am not getting a way to see this working really...
...but that is just my opinion. so good luck as you proceed.

    cheers.

All file sharing companies start like this, but they change very soon because they find out that it really cost a lot !
How much disk space you will have on your servers ? I mean it will really cost a lot.

This is first, and second there is already a lot of services, and you will be one of 100 websites which is very competitive.
I thought also about doing such a service but I ended by saying I can't handle the costing. I hope you know what you do :)

I have plans for future changes, but as a launch I plan to attract small communities to be loyal free users. I have marketing techniques, and the resources to market such a product. The server space will increase as audiences do. 20-30% of revenue will go to costs, and a small amount to advertising.

Let me password protect files uploaded using your service. Like the user has to input a password on your website to get access.

If I can't password protect my files, let me ENABLE or DISABLE a file for sharing.

Give more than 150-200kb+ download speed for my clients, regardless of what country they are from.

Total storage space for free users would be 15gb-20gb or higher.
The minimum I would accept for a single upload size is 1.5gb. If the limit is any lower that's unacceptable.

If all of the above terms are set, you have a good product.
With so many competitors, YOU have to convince US to use your service.
That Includes switching from a service that we are already using.
