Hey guys, I am wondering if there are any legal troubles I should be worried about with making a fake facebook account to eventually post links to CPA offers and such.

I am going off an E-book I recently read.

Thanks for the help in advance!

Edit: Looking for someone who can phone verify! Will pay to the right person!

No I am not self-promoting. I have not written an e-book nor do I think I could.

    This is a legit question.

Removed the name of the e-book to prove it's not self promotion.

    Thanks.

Are you familiar with the term Black Hat?

It means that "You have to do what you have to do, to earn that dollar".

So, creating a facebook account for self promoting won't get you in any trouble, just like this account that you have created on BHW for promotion.

    Lol,ok.

I am not promoting here. This would be the worst place to promote. Who would actually follow through with a promotion on this site from some random guy. Where in my posts do you see that I am promoting?

People buy & sell Facebook accounts here, and other places, by the thousands. The short answer for you is no, there is no legal issue, however it gets complex sometimes because there is a difference between the law as a plaintif wishes it to be, the law as law enforcement believes it to be, the law in terms of how important it is for law enforcement to enforce, the law as a court might judge or rule it to be and the law as it is decided on appeal.

Not a lot of black letter law, but a whole lot of people taking plea arrangements. Some people see "guilty" and point to it as case law, when in fact it's just a plea. Lots of opinions, and almost all of them are wrong.

As an FYI, I wouldn't put any more weight into an e-book than you would in what is written on the bottle of your toothpaste or on the back of your cereal carton. You are better off READING lots & lots of posts on BHW, with side-journeys through Google into Wikipedia, SearchEngineLand, SEOMoz, SEO bloggers and also spending some time actually LOOKING at the area of SEO you want to learn. The algorithm changes constantly, and the best way sometimes to learn what Google is up to is to LOOK at what Google is up to.

Also, pay close attention to people that seem to know something. No one knows "everything" and everyone could have something that might be useful, however some people are just bullshitters and make stuff up to make themselves look good, and to maybe sell you something. I look for people that have the ability to manipulate the text of the online forum in order to convey as much high-quality meaning and information as is possible/practical. You can tell who the big brains (and the shit heads) are just by reading a few posts. Bad spelling, incorrect grammar, etc... indicate sloppiness in other areas, such as in thinking, and knowing what the difference is between what you think, what you believe, what you know, what you are certain of and what you have no idea about. Shades & shades of grey. No 1's and 0's here, and you have to count the number of angels that can dance on the head of a pin.

Thanks for the informative post. I am not following the e-book to the T, more just taking the best ideas and running with them. I believe my plan will work, I'm just worried that once I start selling stuff with someone else's face, legal issues could arise. I am probably over thinking things and doubt anything will actually happen though.

There's a good chance that e-book is pushing you 2 steps backwards. If it makes sense, is something that you feel you understand is seems easy-to-do, it's probably wrong. You might post the e-book's name in order to get some opinions on whether or not it's worth trying.

When I posted the name of the e-book last I was accused of self promoting. But it's "The Facebook Wealth Formula"

After reading some of the reviews, it is clear that whoever wrote the book is trying to get you to buy their email gathering software which apparently is a scam. The reviews on amazon also aren't that great. I am only taking the fake profile from this book. I have my own ideas after that.

There's a thread here about making fake facebook accounts, if you haven't seen it already. Well worth reading.

There are lots of people offering phone verified accounts in the Marketplace, you should check them out.

If the FB account is made as a pseudonym, an avatar, just to make the case for your product, then it's no big deal using fake ID. But if your purpose in using a fake ID is to defraud people and run off with their money, then yes you'll face legal issues.

In other words you're free to write songs or books using a fake name, but it's not ok to use a fake name to sell a car and then run off with the money without delivering a car.

Makes sense, I don't intend to scam people out of money with no return. I will most likely only post CPA offers and such anyway.

I would think so, people offer practically everything here. Check out the Marketplace forums, or post your needs in the Hire a Freelancer section. I'm sure someone will sort you out.
