Make money using the gnutella network

A little background info what gnutella is:
"Gnutella was the first decentralized file sharing network. It celebrated a decade of existence on March 14, 2010 and has a user base in the millions. In late 2007, it was the most popular file sharing network on the Internet with an estimated market share of more than 40%. In June 2005, gnutella's population was 1.81 million computers increasing to over three million nodes by January of 2006." - wiki

What you'll do, it can't be much more simpler: record a fake mp3 song for downloading on a p2p file sharing network

You'll need one gnutella client, let it be LimeWire, download, install and make yourself familiar with it
    Code:
    http://www.limewire.com/
You can either use the free version or the paid pro (buy/dl it from warez forums), it's your choice.

Then you'll need a microphone/you can also outsource this part:
Record a fake song in mp3 format around 4MB just to make it look more legit, saying something like this: "You're fucked, this isn't the real song, but you can download it & a lot more for free @ high speed, if you visit ............... <----- your website (monetized with CPA) goes here" - this recording must be very clear, because if people can't understand the name of your site properly, they can't visit it
You can make the fake song from just this recording, or you can record it after a short intro of the real song, another option is to record it over the real song goin at low volume in the background.

In the next step you'll give the song the name of a popular song (e.g. Lady GaGa - Alejandro), you should also fill out the ID3 tags of the mp3 (performer, song title, album) to make it look more legit furthermore, because these info can be seen on LimeWire.
So now you have the song ready for sharing, your client is installed, your last task is to share this fake song with LimeWire (check LimeWire's help how to do that, if you can't figure it out by yourself) and you're already done. You don't have too much to do after this, just leave your machine & LimeWire running, wait for people to download your song, they go to your website and complete your CPA offer.

Yea, you can ask what happens after people downloaded the fake song, they'll really visit your website and complete your CPA offer instead of searching for the real version of the desired song on LimeWire, well, most of them won't visit your site for sure (as you & i also wouldn't do it), but there are a few other people besides you & i for our luck and from this point it's only a numbers game, more fake songs shared, more money at the end of the day!

Tip: On LimeWire you can order the songs by the number of the users who share the song, (i used to download songs which are shared by many people), so you either should make a network with 50 or so machines to share your fake song :), or this data can also be faked somehow, i'm pretty sure.

Note: I can imagine this could work the best if you're locking your the content of your site with email/zip submits, ringtone offers. In addition, you don't have to fake your traffic source as it will be type-in traffic.

P.S. I owe all of you a confession, i didn't try this method in practice lol, it's just a theory, so it can be that it doesn't work at all, but i can't see anything why this wouldn't work. Although if the method is not working for any reason or you're just simply too lazy to try it out as i am, you can still make some change selling it on DP for $7.00 a pop! And don't forget to use the infamous javascript edit to fake CPA earnings to boost your sales! :D

I haven't seen this method here or in fact anywhere else shared before, but in case if i'm wrong, just ignore it!

I see how that might work. I'd give it a try, but it looks like a lot of time to invest just "to see"

    HMMM
Can I ask now how Limewire is doing?

Anyway I had Limewire PRO about six years ago.
Is that still the best or Shareaza?
Shareaza seems to have gone Angel like now.

hi i tried this method by binding a mp3 with an ad on it to a music mp3, it did not work and was a huge waste of time and i had servers ect. I even had the ad professionally done.

The reason this is very unlikely to work is because when you search for a popular mp3 there are already lots and lots of different versions of it, now all the legit versions will have lots of people sharing them and will appear at the top of search results. The fake one your sharing will only have 1 sharer (you) and will appear way down the bottom.

It's unlikely you will get many downloads at all, and even less of those will actually visit your site.

    yea, good point
that's why you either have a big network of computers to make it work (which doesn't worth it, unless if you already have it, using it for other things) or you have to fake that number somehow, i saw that a couple of times, obviously fake songs with a lot of sharing peers

You could get a few hundred socks-poxies and run tons of instances sharing the song to get a decent number of peers.

I used to do something similiar a while back but with ga mes from r-efle-xive.
Dow nload the latest game with the cr ack, zip it up and add a text file with my url saying something like "get all the games from r-e-fle-xive for free by visiting us", obviously insert a gateway to make some cash. Was a nice little extra income as I used a spare computer in the other room connected to em-ule,lim-ewire and gnutella I think, 24 hours a day.
Its a shame though now, cos r-ef-lexive has just shut down! I wonder why...:D
