    Hey folks,

So I think this is the right place to post this, if not can a appropiate authority please stick it where it is supposed to be.

I've been thinking recently how I can drive more traffic to my already established business and upcoming new venture, and a lightbulb kinda pinged on :)

Just wanna test the water with this idea at the moment and see what people think about it.

Currently I run an online retailer that I started at the beginning of this year, its all legit, I hold stock, have fulfillment warehouses and all that jazz, and basically I'm getting to the point where all of my current traffic driving methods are pretty much at their max.

These have done VERY well, as not a single one of them are paid traffic sources, and typically bring in anywhere between 5-10k of UV's a day.

However, we all like more profit, and to achieve that now, one of the options I'm having to look at is to start paying for traffic along side my current methods.

I've looked at Adwords and other PPC providers and to bring any good traffic for my most popular products is gunna cost me, to cover all the long tail products will probably cost me more, plus I begrudge giving Google any money whatsoever!

So, I thought maybe I could bring some opportunity here for those that are trying to make a buck and struggling.

What I'm thinking is for all intents a purposes a kinda affiliate program, but I would pay for traffic as opposed to sales. I don't want junk traffic of course, so as an incentive, the better conversion rate of traffic anyone sends, the more I would pay for the traffic.

These tiers arent set in stone as yet, but I'm thinking along the lines of the following:

    1k UV < 1% conversion = $5
    1k UV > 1% conversion = $10
    1k UV > 2% conversion = $20
    1k UV > 3% conversion = $30
    1k UV > 4% conversion = $40
    .....
    1k UV > 10% or less conversion = $100

Same tiers (whatever I settle on) would probably be the same for the new venture I'm working on at the moment. I'm planning on going head to head with a large player, as they have made a huge boo-boo and left a particular market wide open for the taking.

Any thoughts? Any ideas? Any interest in something like this?

    Thanks

What niche is your store operating in?
And how would you track this, or more to the point, how would we (the traffic provider) track conversion rate?

Niche is shopping....so its not really a niche when theres over 1M items for sale hehe :)

I like simplicity, so the simplest method would be via a token thats unique to you and just have that as a param for any traffic you might send. Could also send it in the request header for security if folks have the means.

Conversion of traffic could easily be tracked, your identifier would stay with that visitor all the way through thier browsing activity, up to checkout. Then its just a simple case of adding 1 to the conversion count and a little math of conversions/traffic sent.

erm I'd imagine monthly would be the most sensible option.

Payment could be bank to bank transfer, paypal deposit, and any other that seem a good idea :)

Like I said, I havent decided on them, I'm just putting the idea out there first, and get people's opinions.

$100 is probably low, but I just used a simple linear table so people could get the idea.

If you don't give google money, how then do we Adsense publisher earn?

You really want to start buying traffic directly? And cheaper? That is a good plan.
But i do prefer if you have option of advertising directly on websites.
Since it is an ecommerce store, you want to get it out everywhere.
I have a blog that gets 20k daily page view.
How much will you pay to place banner ads on the header?

Well I'm pretty sure Google doesnt give Adsense publishers all the money paid to them from the advertiser when someone clicks on that ad on your site.

I'm not against paid advertising, I'm just against paid advertising when Google is in the loop! :)

    What does your blog target?

not really, target audience is "shopping" I guess.

We sell everything from beauty, home & garden, electronics, music, dvds, games consoles etc etc so should this idea come to fruition, should give a good scope for anyone that wishes to take part

i think you'd be better off giving people a percentage of everything bought (bought by the traffic that they sent) rather than what you put in the first post. do it sort of like how amazon does.

I got a suggestion for you. Instead of wasting your $100, you can make good use of it by buying some decent Mac Donald Meals :p
