    Hi Guys,

I'm looking for a bit of advise... i have a magento store that i want to improve the SEO / Backlinking etc.. I also have a good twitter and FB following.

Q1. If i put a blog in a section on the magento site will this help SEO?
Q2. If so, is there SW that will auto post from FB to fill the Blog?
Q3. Assuming there is, which SW should i use for the blog.. Blog by aheadworks??
Q.4 If i put a Twitter feed block on the store will this help SEO or is it just for show?

Thank you in advance... hopefully as i learn more someday i will be able to post answers and offer help rather than questions...!

    Cheers Storm

I am interested in some Magento SEO tips as well, up until now I pretty much only run Wordpress or Joomla and my few Magento stores seem to rank much less relative to the other sites. The main theme though is the Magento sites also have the least content by far, so I imagine that is a pretty good place to start.

I added a blog to my magento store about 12 months ago. Ill Try and answer your questions

    1. Adding a blog provides fresh, regular content to your customers. It differentiates your site from competitors and gives a reason for customers to return. Fresh targeted content can only be good for SEO and genuine link bait.

    2. I would treat your blog totally separate to Facebook. Use it to provide real content to your users. Product reviews, related news, company information. Can you write a guide or white paper? I gave away a free guide and that one blog post has gotten over 1,600 backlinks naturally. Some from newspaper and .gov sites

A word about ahead works blog extension. I started with it, and it is a made a good simple blog, but as my blog has grown I found I needed something with more features and scalability. I have just migrated our blog to a Wordpress install and I'm sure there are lots of FB autopost apps for it if you wanted to go that route.

Hope some of this helps. Good luck with the site

I won't criticized any ones methods of SEO, so please if you think I did with what I wrote below my apologies.

If you are running a store and your customer is looking for SEO focus on getting targeted visitors to the items. A blog to add fresh content I consider it a fail canned SEO. Marketing is about new ways of promoting products or services, SEO is focus on getting organic traffic. Learn to optimized a store, Google base, items descriptions, images, video reviews of items. Not everything is resolved with a blog.

I agree, a blog should be just one tool in you content mix. I recommend optimising all the above also.

Also do not forget offline marketing. After a year of blogging I am seen by many as an expert in my niche. I have been approached to comment by PR companies, journalists and was even featured on a local tv news item about my niche. It all leads to the site being seen as an authority not just by the big "G" but by your customers and the public too

I've got a blog on my Magento store and it provides a nice level of traffic as it hits those long tailed keywords and ranks highly.

Recently, product reviews have really helped me with increasing traffic. Offering a small promotion to increase the incentive to leave a review has really helped me rank for keywords that I wasn't using in my product descriptions.
