Hello.

If i was to build one Magento Cart with Multiple Store Fronts...

By this i mean one Admin, one product catalog - but different front end themes. They would have the same product prices and descriptions etc...
They would however be on different domains - but comming from the same server.

How would this work with SEO?

If we were to then add 10-20 storefronts, how would this work with duplicate content?

Could each store still be SEO'ed effectively?

Thanks

Why do you want same content with different templates? You will have a problem with duplicate content.

At least, if you want 2 domains or 2 designs (I don't know what you want to do), you can have different descriptions in Magento for each store front.

I run numerous store fronts off magento installs...there are no SEO issues, unless you interlink them.

Obviously it would be total stupidty opening multiple store fronts of the same product & then cloning the written content across the stores, that has nothing to do with magento.

Magento is a brilliant shopping cart, but its not noob friendly...its a very very deep rabbit hole. If your struggling understanding this stuff, i'd suggest a simpler cart.

I almost agree with everything you say, but what's the problem of interlink the stores front?

There many store fronts with the links of all the others. For languages, for example.

I mean "interlinking" in the blog/link farming sense...you can't get penalized for stuff that happens off-site... but, same server, same whois, shopfronts interlinking to game the SERPS is begging for trouble.

The reason we are wanting to have the same cart - but with Multiple store fronts is to potentially setup affiliate stores.

Eg: We get a new affiliate onboard - they have there own store front and domain - but its all the same products for each store... The only difference would be the template...

Yes - we would be using the same content - so yes - there would be all duplicate content. Each store however would be o a different domain name.

Could this still work on Google? On would it do badly because of dupe content?

I also use Magento and have been using it from the beginning, like they said there could be a conflict in the search engines eyes because it is duplicate content, unless you change some info around on that specific store.

If you dont interlink them you'll be fine. If you really want to interlink them then just buy a few class C ip's for like 2 bucks a month and put the sites that will be interlinked on different ips.

I also have the same situation!
Same catalog and different domains
With Magento, you can use the same cataolo and personalize the descriptions?
I think we can fix it.
In this way there will be problems GOOGLE MR.
Right?
