Possibly, but it's not a market for me. Too many variables I am unable to control.

    Thanks!
The game is translated to around 10 languages - only on the store listing page. Definitely need to do a lot more and better, and also translate in-app (menus, texts etc).

Thanks! Best of luck to you.

Happy to see this , congratulations , hope your game keeps giving you money , most of games dies after a short period of releasing so i suggest you to invest that money on your game to avoid that , add more features and read your users opinions.

Hey, first off - congratulations. This is my first post in the forum and I have to say that this thread blew me away. It couldn't come at any better timing.

I just relaunched my Android game Snake Scout after it failed last year. Your thread gave me so much valuable information and inspiration. Thank you so much.

If you have any advice for my game and ASO, please give your thoughts.

Also, PM me your favorite snack on Amazon and I'll ship it to your doorstep as an appreciation for sharing all of this to the community.

    Best,

    Wes

    Thank you!

There's a LOT to do on your app - which is a good thing. Here's what I would do, in this order:

    1) The app icon needs to be better
Really difficult to see what it's supposed to portray - and you're loosing a lot of clicks on just this.

I would instead do something similar to this, and add something related to scout (like a scout's hat or something)

    2) The promotional images needs to be better
The images themself are 'okay' for now - but the text is unreadable. I'm trying to read them and literally can't - so this is a must-fix asap.

    3) Listing text needs to include more keywords and be longer
Here's a full list of KeywordTools.io (Paid version) results:
    Snake: https://i.gyazo.com/c6e18cedb63bf68940a4d571864272ce.png
    Snake Game: https://i.gyazo.com/6cffea2d366a602865e739d22967da32.png

There's other, better tools for keyword ideas, but I don't have access to them right now unfortenately.

As it's aimed for kids, make sure to take use of 'fun' icons and easy-to-read text.
    Example:
Make the above changes and let me know in the thread again, and we can look at some marketing and ranking ideas.

I see that you're doing several things right though (like replying to comments) - so well done!

    Best of luck bud!

    Wow... inspiring.. Congratulation.
Do you translate the tittle and description in listing?
    Or just the description?

@https://www.blackhatworld.com/members/yakuzaemme.1002046/ just finished all the thread - big congrats and I wish you to achieve 50K/m till the end of this year!

I have couple questions that I didn't saw here.

    - what was your RR? 7/30/90days iOS/Android
    - can you share your highest MAU/DAU?
    - have you also replying to comments using those longtail KW's?
    - as I understood you have used ASO+motivated traffic to set your app rank #1 for 1-2 word KW's - how long it takes to reach the top1-5 using your method?
    - have you been working on ASO+marketing on 2-3 countries at one time? or you have been focusing on 1 country until you reach the top position on your KWs?

    thanks for your answers.

Can you go a little deeper on what you mean by "buying keyword installs".

I'm confused as to how this is different then just buying installs.

I've actually self developed a couple Android games some in pure java others in unity. I never broke 1k a month on decently heavy games. Can I DM you some details and get your input?

    Thanks

Keywords installs means that the user has to type a specific keyword (for example: sports game) in the appstore/playstore search box and scroll down through the results till they find your game then install it , the more keyword installs you get the the higher your rank will be for that keyword.

This is extremely inspiring, congrats on your new house!

I also develop most of the time for the web (mostly server-side, data) but I've been looking into desktop and/or mobile development lately. Ideally I'd love to make my own apps by myself (I'm a DIY person), but this is extremely inefficient and time consuming. You seem to be working with a team (aside from the game devs), is this correct? Also, the developers you hired were from your local town? Giving 40k to a remote team seems risky to me :S

You beat me to it, I was just about to say that. :)

Yes, absolutely. That was the biggest gamechanger for me.

1 & 2) Not at my desktop PC right now, can get those to you later
    3) Yes
    4) Usually 2-3 weeks if succesful (not all attempts are succesful)
    5) No, one at a time

See answer below by another member who summarized it well. And for any input from me, it must be publically in the thread so others can get use of it too.

    See previous pages please

Thank you! There's plenty of talented game devs - probably here on BHW but also sites like Upwork. If I were you - hire someone, and focus on what you're good at instead. Always have proper paperwork and common sense and you'll be fine. Best of luck!

Hey - thanks for checking out my app and giving me some suggestions. I applied most of them along with my own hunches based on keyword research. Also A/B testing a new app icon (Google Play is taking FOREVER to update my listing every-time I push a change).

So, I'm absolutely fascinated with ASO and I hope to become an expert in this field. If anyone wants to create a discussion group where we share experiences, ideas and insights - specifically for Android - I've created a Discord group here: https://discord.gg/cNbh2aW (I'll be taking down this link in a few days and will only respond to PM's once I get past the "newbie" title on this forum)

I often get obsessed with niches and dive head first into it. I've done this recently with ASO and it's been on my mind 24 hours a day. Looking for others who share the same passion.

    **********************************

There are a few questions that I can't quite find the answers to so I'm hoping either you, or other people on this forum, can chime in and point me in the right direction.

    1. What "weight" does normal, UAC installs have on keyword ranking?

I haven't been able to find any pattern in terms of downloads to keyword rankings. For example, I ran a $30 one day UAC in India (with ad text that used my keywords) and got 84 conversions at $0.32/install. That moved my targeted keyword ranking exactly 0 spots. In fact, only 3 days later, I fell out of every keyword rank in India (and currently, I don't rank for anything over there).

Meanwhile, in Argentina, I rank in the top 250 for over 10 keywords (some of which I don't have even once in my metadata). I don't even have 1 install from anyone in Argentina. The algorithm seems to be random?

Which brings me to my second question:

    2. What should my strategy be if I rank in a different country?

Let's say I see a ranking of #34 for the keyword "anaconda" in Argentina. I also look at the traffic volume for that keyword and I want to target it. How do I jump up the rankings for that keyword? Is this where "keyword installs" come into play? Or if I specifically target Argentina in my UAC, will that naturally increase my keyword ranking?

EXPERIMENT - To test if Keyapp.top still worked for incentive keyword installs, I found one of my competitors, found a keyword that they ranked #50ish for and then purchased 50 installs against that keyword. After the 1-day campaign, their ranking for that keyword actually dropped to #75. But the next day, it rose to #3 and has stayed there ever since (it has been a week).

I tried the same thing on my app and it dropped me out of the top 250. Does this strategy only work for well, established apps?

EXPERIMENT - I tried an Instagram keyword install promotion as mentioned a few posts back. I created a short $5 campaign in the USA, listed the steps clearly (1. go to Google Play 2. Search for keyword xxxxx 3. Scroll down until you see my app 4. Install and write "done" in the comments section). I got just a bunch of likes but no comments. Is this what you meant by a keyword install promotion?

I've also tried personally DMing everyone of my followers and asking to do a keyword install as a favor. Man, kids these days are brutally mean lol (they don't want to do it)

    3. Which ASO tool gives you the best insight into keyword volume and difficulty?

I tried all of the ASO tools this past week and I can't seem to get consistent numbers across each software. AppTweak was my favorite in terms of layout and design (Sensor Tower was the worst) - but their numbers seemed so off compared to what the others were giving me. I also tried using the Keyword planner tool in Google Ads to get a sense of volume and competition but it still doesn't seem appropriate for actual Google Play search numbers.

The best bet is to probably use 3 tools and then average the numbers out. But that can be expensive (each tool is around $75/month as it is)

    4. What's the "weight" of the other factors for keyword ranking?

I know that Google's algorithm is secret and no one knows exactly what is weighed and by which factor. But there seems to be no experimenting and guesswork done for apps (everything I read is about actual web-based SEO). Is this because ASO is a new-ish industry? (rhetorical question. Don't answer)

I'm talking factors such as - conversion rate, retention rate, number of game plays, Android vitals, backlinks, etc.

    5. How long does the indexing take?

I may be trying to see instantaneous results for a naturally slow process (though the keyapp.top experiment would prove otherwise). If I just let my app be, would it eventually move up the ranks by itself? How much actual effort do I need to put into it?

If I can figure out exactly what works (and what doesn't) for moving up the keyword rankings - it would be natural to apply it to different countries as suggested. The process would be the same:

    1. Look at your competitors
    2. Find which keywords they rank for.
    3. Build a 200+ semantic dictionary for your keywords
    4. Narrow down to the top 20 that you want to target based on volume and difficulty
    5. Create a localized store listing targeting these new keywords (do it in a different language if need be)

Eventually, I want to explore changing keywords each month based on traffic and difficulty and see how it effects your previous rankings. E.g. I'm currently ranking # 1 for the keyword "singing game" but see a big opportunity for the keyword "music game". If I change my app title from Karaoke - Singing Game to Karaoke - Music Game... How long does it take for me to rank for "music game"? And how long does it take for me to lose ranking for "singing game"? etc.

Sorry about the long post but I'm hoping that we, as a community, can grow and learn new things together :)
