Hi everyone,

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I hope someone here might have some knowledge about what's going on with my MacBook. Please help me out!

I'm having a major issue with my 2022 MacBook Pro and could really use some assistance.

The Problem:

While using my MacBook, it suddenly lagged and turned off. Now, it won’t stay on for more than a few seconds. It briefly shows the Apple logo and then shuts down again, Please check the video below to know what's going on.

I’ve tried entering Recovery Mode, but it starts up and then shuts down(As shown in the video at last) before I can do anything. On rare occasions, I’ve managed to get into Recovery Mode, but it lags and stops in the middle of the reset process.

at the end this is what it shows

What I’ve Tried:

  • Force restarting the MacBook.
  • Attempting to boot into Recovery Mode multiple times.
Additional Details:
  • The MacBook is about two years old, out of the standard warranty, and I didn’t purchase AppleCare+.
  • The device was rarely used, not an everyday device.
Questions:
  1. Has anyone experienced a similar issue? What steps did you take to resolve it?
  2. Are there any other troubleshooting steps I can try?
  3. If this is a hardware issue, what should I expect in terms of repair costs?
  4. Would attempting a factory reset be worth it, or is it too risky given the current state?
I’m really stressed about this and would appreciate any advice or suggestions.

Thanks a lot!

Understood, and thanks for the subreddit's i will try it.

Never faced anything like this. I have the 16 inch version of it. Did you install anything before it went wrong? It seems more like some software issue than hardware. Do you have apple care?

Perhaps try taking the macbook to an apple service center and hear what they say, first.

ditch your overpriced heater and buy a pc!
your mac made you a favor :)
No disrespect, but you clearly have no idea what you are talking about. :)

Yes i went to service center and they told me they will charge $40 only to diagnosed and they told me if there is any issue in ssd or motherboard it can cost upto $650. :/

hmmmm ssd is a soldered chip, so it is very unlikely it will be broken without extreme usage.

Motherboard could be an issue indeed, from your description. But chances are, it is just a sw problem. If I was in your place, i would pay that 45$ for a diagnosis. Just tell them to not fix anything without your consent.

Also make sure you are going to the official service center, not some third party (unless you know them).

Ya i think i should go for diagnosis and also sometimes its gets open automatic like it goes on recovery mode automatic and sometimes it directly start to home screen.

hmmm if it indeed is a factory defect of some kind, you will get a replacement. First do that. :)

If they don't replace it for factory defect then go to any service center I spent 1 week trying to fix an old mac and it was only 100$ repair at the service center

Replacement? its not on warranty bro i dont think so they will accept that if its factory defect.
I know. But at the same time, apple regularly recalls stuffs where they f ed up. I have never had to go to the apple care since I have been very lucky with apple hardware. You might be lucky lol. Doesn’t hurt to try. 45$ is not that much considering the motherboard upgrade (specially since apple now has everything tagged. u can’t use even a m1 pro mbp cable in another m1 mbp).

My case is currently open with an official apple technician and they told me they will help me out, i will force them to replace this macBook because it is factory defect.

Best of luck bro!

edit: I am sorry I misread the diagnosis charge to be 45 instead of 40. But whatever lol.

jokes aside, care to explain?
An apple silicon mac be it pro or otherwise doesn’t go beyond 30w while running at full power. Normally it is around 8-12w depending on the connected peripherals. If you are calling them “heaters”, you probably haven’t used them yet. This new TDP is all the new “rage” that other companies like intel are trying to replicate right now.

You have been living under a rock, my friend.

Have you tried reseting SMC, NVRAM, tried Safe Mode or Runned Apple Diagnostics?
Your thread is pretty well structured but looking at what you described all I can see is you tried almost nothing?..

Edit: If not an hardware issue, restoring it will pretty sure solve the problem, I assume you do not want to lose your files....
