My website is about 4+ months old and upon checking my rank for my main keywords i have completley dropped out of the top 100 results.

However I have tried one of two other related keywords eg typing; keyword location into google and i still have pages ranking on the first page for some of these searches.

I have also noticed that my google places page which usually ranks well is nowhere to be seen.

Can someone explain to me if this is some kind of google dance and everything will eventually put itself right or if i have a more serious problem some kind of de-indexing / sandbox thing, although i wouldnt have thought i would come up in any searches at all if this was the case.

Can someone who has a better understanding explain this to me and explain what i if anything i need to do ?

My link building so far has been a few hundred social bookmarks, some profiles with profiles linking to them, some manually built web 2.0 pages, some forum posting and some amr blasts. The only remotely blackhat stuff really has been the AMR blasts of which there could have been a total of about 10 with a success rate of about 1000 posted articles per blast. These have been over past 3 months and spaced out and have only recently started getting indexed anyway.

    any ideas ?

    thanks in advance

Well you can tell if you've been sandboxed, are you still listed within Google? If you are, then you've just been dropped from the rankings, which is probably something to do with the Google Dance. Unless you've been de-indexed by Google, then you've been sandboxed and well, that's just a pain. :)

that is what's happening to my site, first time it ranked on the first page, but there are some that are still there on top spot for some keywords. But those keywords that had a lot of competition has completely sanked to the bottom. I will just let it sit for the moment, because my blog is just 1 month old.

well i can still find my site on google when searching using some keywords, but all my main and most competitive keywords don't show my site at all, where as just 2 days ago i had started to get first page of google, up from page 2.

I am in the process of having a web 2.0 pyramid built which may well have something to do with it. I just hope that i havent fell off the google raydar for too long as it will lose me money.

From what i have read in various other posts i dont think im in the "sandbox", but there is definalty a big old dance going on.
Fingers crossed i end up back on page 1 on the top spot.

hey firstplace I have the same issue as you..

was getting 2,200 visitors or so daily
now im getting 600 85% of my traffic was search engine.

i did change the templates around which i think could of caused the drop in search engine rankings but im baffled..

anyone have any idea on as to why?
