I recently had one of my sites with a pagerank of 1 drop to a pagerank of 0. I know this may not be much of a serious issue but I was wondering what would cause a website to lose page rank?

Your website would lose pagerank if the following happened:

1)You link to many websites from your homepage with "****************" attributes

2)Your linking partners have stopped linking to you (high page rank partners)

If your site is relatively new even if you have lost no links can lose PR for:

not maintaining your previous level of added new links (if you add 5 links a week and then went to 1 a week).

not updating your content. I've seen it on static pages where my content was 100% untouched but my linking about equal from previous updates and it caused to to slip by 1-2 PR rankings.

So basically keep adding content and building backlinks and you will do fine.

or you have some bad links in googles view so it lowered your pagerank that could be the reason too not just from losing links

Thanks for the help guys, I'm thinking the reason why I lost page rank related to not building as many backlinks as I had originally. I'll focus on this again and see what the results are when Google makes its update.

google wont penalize you for links lining too you. Other wise you could just bury your competitors with a massive mounts of link spam.
