Losing domain PR when buying

I have recently bought a few valid PR domains and transferred them to my account. I enabled whoisguard on the domains to make sure that the whois data is private. A few days after, about 50% of the domains (with good backlinks) went from PR4 and PR3 to PR0. The other 50% remained unchanged in regards to PR. Why is this happening? How can I prevent Google from changing the PR from these transferred domain names?

I am pretty sure you cant do anything except add a huge amount of content

Thank you for your contribution. However, that is exactly what I am trying to find out, why when I transfer domains, I lose the PR. Whether I sell links or not, PR is important for what I am trying to accomplish, hence it is imperative for me to find out why some sites lost their PR and some did not.

Did you lose the PR a few days ago? Probably the domains were already PR0 but it was hard to tell because the PR Google shows is outdated. The PR Google shows is updated only a few times a year and it was updated at the end of last week so that is when the changes were reflected

PR is based on the number and strength of links. So if links are removed after a domain is bought then the PR drops but you will not see the change until Google does an update

If the person who sold you the domain had gotten page rank by cross linking their sites, then removed the domain they sold you from the rest of the domains, that would definitely impact your PR.

The links are still present compared to when? It may not be good enough to look at the links now compared to a short time ago because the domain may already have been a PR0 but it was hard to tell because the toolbar PR was not updated. For example if a domain had 100 backlinks and earned a PR4 when google updated PR in december and the links dropped to 10 after that then it would still show as PR4 until the next update in april

One more explanation is that the PR you were seeing before was fraudulent and not based on backlinks at all. This is done by forwarding a domain to another domain with a higher PR. Googlebot gets redirected and thinks the domains are equivalent. When the redirection is stopped the PR drops. Some scammers do this to sell domains or it can happen unintentionally

I think you have bought the Expired Domain Names.

The problem with this is Google actively lower your PR to 0 and reset any backlink the domain have because many spammer are using Expired Domain's to gain high PR for their crappy site to get the top ranking with out any effort and polluting the Google search's.

So,there is no use of buying Expired Domain's to gain high ranking in Search Engine.But you can buy a website as a whole so there is no problem.
