    Hi,

I've bought a couple of expired domains that I want to use to rank my moneysite higher. Now, after a 1-2 weeks I enter their URL's in Majestic Site Explorer and all the domains have lost a lot of citation flow and trust flow.

I have installed digi link doctor on all domains together with Wordpress.

How come I'm losing this? Is it something to be worried about?

I'm pretty sure the answer could be almost any number of reasons. Did the links disappear after you bought the domains?

Expired domains lose it pretty quickly. Years ago I tried jumping on high PR expired domains and they died off rather quickly. You have to do something with them pretty quickly as they are no longer linked to anything and G is quick to notice these things.

what you mean by "they are no longer linked to anything"?

Isn't citation flow and trust flow depended solely on backlinks only? correct me if wrong please

It seems that a number of backlinks got deleted after I had bought the domain, but on some domains the backlink number remains the same but citation flow and trust flow has gone down.

What are other people doing to prevent this? Normally I've tried to install Wordpress and put content on the site as soon as I get the confirmation from GoDaddy to install applications.

Could it be that someone is scamming people on godaddy by adding links to domains then removing them after theyre sold?

Citation flow and trust flow are both dependant on the back links. In Majestic Seo you can analyze your domain using both the Fresh and Historic index. Pay attention to the Link Type column. This will most likely show a large number of Deleted links for domains that have lost CF and TF.

A lot of scammers post temporary high value links to their domains, to get the PR, CF, TF and other metrics up. They then sell these domains for a profit and once the purchase is done, they remove these links. This causes the metrics to drop significantly. Its possible that you may have bought a lemon.

The important thing to learn from this is that you need to do a few manual checks while buying expired domains, the metrics should only be a first level of filter. You need to do some research on the back links. If you are intent on buying a domain, you should visit the pages that link to the domain and focus on the following.

    1. The link should not be embedded inside a footer or a sidebar, along with a lot of other links to non related sites.
    2. The link should be embedded inside an article, related to the link (contextual)
    3. The linking site should not be a thin content site.

One more thing I like to look at is the Anchor Text pie chart shown by Majestic Seo. If the anchor texts do not match the content of the site or if anchor texts are unrelated, then this means that someone before you has tried to use this domain to rank their money sites.

15% of all domains I have purchased have lost their value significantly. This is after doing as much manual research as possible. You simply need to put this down to the cost of learning and move on.

    Home Page:
In opensiteexplorer you can view the top pages for that domain, then try and recreate at least the top 5, and redirect the rest to the homepage. (export to csv, and creat htaccess file using combined columns is much faster for this!).
Often if the DA is better than the homepage PA, then there are loads of links to internal pages = more work to recreate the pages, and very annoying, something to think about.
Also make sure to do a check for site:url.com, a great way to tell if it's been used and abused - look for any words relating to porn, gambling, pharm etc.
