    Hi there,

I run a social promotion business related to crowdfunding (mostly), and I got the brilliant idea of starting a forum last week to try and create a community for crowdfunders and investors. So now I'm looking to find members that will be willing to start posting and get conversations started, offer ideas, maybe find a couple mods to run the place.

    Just looking for some help

    Thanks!

In such cases I've seen forums flourish when there's some proper content on there.

Threads that tend to get picked up by search engines because of their popular topic.
Maybe you should first try to either create or buy a few informative threads that will give new members something to read.
Then if that doesn't work you can always try paying people to post but honestly a forum is all about the topic. If there aren't just enough people interested in the topic or if there are already many alternative forums they can go to, it's pretty hopeless.

    Nevertheless good luck!

Just checking dude :) Do you have a budget for this or anything? I would suggest either making a thread in the Hire a Freelancer section, or advertising on this one website of which the name eludes me. They allow you to pay people per post they make on your forum.

You should use twitter for this. You don't have to run your own account. Just pay for a tweet. You'll get hits.

Try some paid posting for starters , no one will visit and join in an empty forum :)
