I am looking for a few investors that will help fund our project. Myself and a few awesome engineers at Twitter are in the process of building out a Social Media Monitoring tool for Law Enforcement and First Responders. We have the demo product ready to go, but the developers need capital to continue optimizing the tech.

Any idea where I can find some Angel Investors?

The software is meant to monitor Social Media for high-risk situations (School Shootings, Standoffs, Investigations, etc) It could also be used for First Responders to locate and evaluate disaster areas after Natural disasters occur.

We can't do crowd funding in the traditional way because it is not a product made for the public. We have even been offered to go on to Shark Tank, but we turned it down for that reason.

OP: discussing avenues is fine but your post is verging on asking members to invest. Just so you know, any attempts to solicit or offer investment on the back of the post is against the rules and will be acted on.

    Carry on.

Couldn't you just go to the bank and get a business loan for the product?

Interesting, seems slightly backwards though - I am sure that in a crisis a call to emergency services would be made before posting to twitter.....

Maybe you should be looking at angel investors or the equivalent?

Yes, or business loan as said above.

I guess if you have letter of intent / pending contracts with emergency services and so on it will be possible to get a loan quite easily.

@Davids355 It is interesting. High-risk ops always come in through dispatch first, but then there is a ton of intelligence that could be gathered via geo-tagged posts. Gathering witness testimony, ruling out suspects and locating bad guys are all ways we could use this app in LE.

Sounds like Police is your ideal customer?

Pay a visit to the local department and get the ball rolling, e.q. present the product, get in contact with the decision makers, ask for a letter of intent and go to investor.

With customer & Twitter engineers in your team it will be easy to find an angel.

Hmm Letter of Intent. That, I think, is what we are missing. Thank you so much!

If police are your target consumer there may be grants available. A lot of the grants are only open to law enforcement or for purchases of products already on the market but if you find a specific department that wants it they could get a grant to get it developed and then you'd give it to them at cost and sell to other departments. That would require a department that REALLY wants/needs it badly though.

DARPA. Cops are already militarized, anything to make that more effective gets Doctor Frankenstein's wallet out (Darpa).

The Fedeal government isn't giving out cops military grade equipment anymore like crazy, they have to prove a need for it and all kinds of stuff for just the lower end stuff now.
