    Hi,

I recently bought a domain and then checked its supposed value on estibot and the estimation was 2500% superior to the price I paid. It doesn't look like a bad potential ROI. So I would like to know if anybody has a good experience on buying and selling domains at auctions and to give me tips on the best practices.

    Thanks,

Well firstly, ignore what you saw on any valuation website. It's worth whatever people are prepared to pay.

Secondly, unless the domain has great metrics or it's of particular interest to a person or organisation then it's most likely worth the reg fee. If it's a brand new domain then I doubt it's worth much at all.

Tip #1, ignore those online evaluations. They means nothing.

Totally ignore those crappy online valuations.
Manually check, see what kinds of history and backlinks are there.

Estibot do not relate to reality.
Only number of inquieies will show the real demand and price.

I'd check Flippas' sold domains to see what domains similar to yours sold for. Then you"ll have a yardstick to go by.
