Looking for advices or technics or voodoo spells

Hi folks,
I have a Website with some contents. There are not articles or news and no even shop products. It's almost data well-display about public personalities : who are they, what they do, with whom they work, theirs topics, etc. It exists since six years (ok, it will be six years in October but you understand). It's well referenced into Google BUT I have one competitor that I can't downshift. We are in a very little niche.

I think about it and my diagnosis is as follows :
- more backlinks than my competitor (my big weakness);
- maybe create some free blogger/blogspot/WordPress with articles about public personalities and link to my website;
- a page for the website on LinkedIn.

I already work on social media : Facebook, Twitter, Instagram. I am a source on Wikipedia (so its provides me some traffic). I also have an official blog (which is in the process of reconstruction and various improvements).

My goal is to have a better rank when someone searches a public personality on Google. I know that I can't be placed before official websites and Wikipedia, but I want to get a better rank than now. Apart from the satisfaction of my personal ego, the site relies on crowdfunding. More traffic = more money.

Just make it simple, if you want to outrank him, you'll have to aim for a better on & off page,
Make a comparison for the type of content (length, quality, silo, interlinking, number of pages, etc...),
A do aim for a better & more links (guest posting outreach, PBNs), the number is not the single thing that you should worry about, aim only for the HQ ones (with a few for diversity) then you can start counting

So ... I checked backlinks from my competitor : 1 363 074.
My blog : 2 950.
I don't check the main website.
I will kill myself (joke).

What you could do is
- Find keywords that they are not targeting well and outrank them there.
Each small victory adds up.
- Look at their article structure, is your similar in terms of content, headers & length?
- Look at their backlinks, take what you can (as long they are of quality)

If they are top spot for 6years, you should adjust for something similar. (SEOSurfer) is a good tool to use
Find hidden feature snippets and similar they they are not targeting and target that instead.

Backlinks
Regarding backlinks on "good official sites"
There a way to do that, look into HARO and get some good big juicy links for free
Or buy some quality backlinks. I would personally recommend @t0mmy and @GSERP, I worked with both closely in the past and now on multiple projects.

You can definitely create some, however, bare in mind, a 1 pager of these ain't worth much, if you have to invest the time, effort and creativity into this. If you are going through this trouble, I would suggest going back into the HARO option once again. It may be a bit harder, but the results are a whole different level.

Do it, however make sure you maintain it.

You can, you just need to become an authority in google's eyes. Once again, that ties back towards having good authority sites endorsing you.

My competitor is on top spot since 10 years...
You're right about the structure of their page (we don't have articles, but your idea is good).
Today, I will continue to update the blog and analyze it. I downloaded two software last night, I will post the review.
