I was looking at my google webtool stats today and see one of my pages is getting tons of impressions but hardly any clicks. Is that because I am sittin at spot 8-9 for my keyword? Once I get to the #1 will my CTR be much higher and I will see alot more traffic?

You have to look at your analytics and see what page it is and the keyword people are using. Then use a rank checker and see where your page ranks in google/bing/yahoo etc.... for that keyword.

Must be and yes getting number one will greatly increase your CTR to on average around 45% of the impressions. If you didn't know already to see what keywords you have suddenly had a boost in serps in you you can find it in webmaster tools. Then put them into a Serps check to see if your theory is correct.

Ya i know that. Those impressions are for one keyword, which is currently ranked in the 8th to 9th spot. Im just wondering if my CTR will be much higher at the number 1 spot.

Just have a good look at your keyword. Try to get in to the minds of the people who are searching such keyword phrase. Try to get a hang on what they are looking at, searching for and the mind set of them. This will answer for your question.

In one of my site, there is a page which gets lots of search traffic but there were few clicks. It was a problem for me, since I am getting visitors(more than 200+ uniques for that particular page) but not enough CTR. Finally I realize what the issue was, it was just the mind set of the people. They were only looking for some free information, that's it. (Even I ranked in the first 3 positions for that particular keyword)

It was a good experience for me and I learned a lesson out of it.

So If im averaging 1000 impressions per day, I should get about 400 visitors a day at the #1 spot right?
