Alright, I just started a website roughly 2 and half/3 weeks ago, and so far this month, it has gotten almost 55K visitors (unique IP's and natural organic traffic, they get to my site because they want to be there by searching keywords on Google)...but I've only made around $5 (with AdBrite I mean. I've obviously made money from the site in other ways).

I've attached a picture so you can see the exact numbers...

I'm kind of new to the AdSense/Adbrite arena and I don't know how much I should be expecting to make.

Should it be more? Is that good?

Haha, well, thanks for letting me know. Any idea of what is good? Like, what I should be shooting for?

You should now by know that in internet marketing we deal with so many variables that there is no politically correct answer to such a question. It always depends on the niche,on the comercial intent of the keywords, on CTR etc.

As a starting point, to give you an aswer, you should shoot for $20 CPM. This is an average CPM payout that I've seen for many media buying sites. So this should be good.

The idea is to isolate as many of the factors that you can controle and start testing. A very good program that will help you on this endeavour is openx. It let's you split test multiple advertising models and the best part is..it's free. :)

I agree, but that $20cpm is to some extent influenced by the niche and of course the authority of the site. The big sites can charge that sort of figure as they have authority and thus anyone advertising on the site has more implied trust.

@ OP - you should test various ad positions (I tweak mine multiple times a day on new sites) and other networks. Have you tried Adsense? Traditionally pays more than Adbrite.

Nevertheless, $0.06CPM is terrible and if I were you I'd remove the ads altogether and look to monetize some other way assuming you are happy the CTR etc is optimized and eCPM wouldn't improve. From your CTR figure, I'd guess it is not.

The key is testing, testing, testing - especially if you have a nice amount of relevant traffic :)

Well, I may have exaggerated a bit on the 3 weeks...but not by much. I think it is 5 weeks old or so.

$20cpm... Seriously... You would have to be the luckiest man alive an everything go right for you for that to happen.

At the moment im happy with $2CPM with adsense which i worked very hard to get.

My Adsense CPM in a web design give site ranges from $10 to $40 depending on the day.
But I gotta say the ad placement is pretty aggressive...

Looks like I need to get myself a new niche based on that!! I make about $1.25 eCPM and am pretty happy with that with 300k UV's+ per week.

I was just comparing your stats to mine. I guess to answer your question, you could
earn more. My site has been up for about 5-7 weeks:
Im not sure if thats considered good.
