I own a news site for my local area. There are only 2 other proper sites covering news in this area, who's homepage rank first and second when you search up '(location) news'.

My question is, how would you recommend that I try and get onto that first page too? I have a few hundred dollars, and as far as I am aware it's not a very competitive keyword.

How would you best achieve this if you had a few hundred dollars?

The DA of my site is about 55.

Yes- there are many reputable vendors that have packages specific to Local SEO and Ranking for specific keywords. The great thing about this site is there are hundreds of products that have been reviewed by one of the sites moderators. As an opinion, you may be better off re-thinking your keyword strategy. I live in Buffalo, New York and I can say with 100% certainty I have never google searched "Buffalo News".
