I notice that when I put cloaked affiliate links in my ebooks, the website loads really slow, than it is for someone manually typing in the url. Is there a way to make it load faster?

Probably not. If you think about it your link has to hit two servers as opposed to one. A cloaked link first hits your server (although for a split second as long as your server isn't down or slow) and then moves onto the target site (which is on a separate server). I find it takes the same amount of time for an affiliate link, cloaked link or even a standard link to load in an ebook. It just takes a while for any link to load in general from PDF files.

It may depend how you do it. If you're using some url shortening service then they have to do a database lookup to get the target url which may slow things down, they could also just be slow anyway, due to traffic.

If you have a decent host and do it yourself there shouldn't be any significant difference (usually).
