Hello everyone, Im trying to rank well for low competition keyword that gets about 1k searchs globally,
I know its realy low but Im doing it just for the practice, anyways, alot of people told me to check how many backlinks the #1 ranked has
and Im not sure if to check how many backlinks the homepage has or to check how many backlinks the page that ranked #1 has?
since I checked both and homepage has about 72k, but the #1 page has only 3..

IMHO, thats not a very good metrics to base your target backlinks.

Try to get backlinks from sites which are highly rated by google. vary your anchor text, Link diversity should be there and also you need to keep on getting links everyday.

OK thanks dude, realy helped me but I have another question, my site homepage is indexed by google since when I PR check it , I see 0/10 but not a grey bar. but when Im checking some of my page PR it says it isn't indexed, so it means I need to index every single page in my site?

google will crawl your site and index it at their own pace. you can submit pages of your site in webmaster tools, but I would recommend letting the crawl happen naturally.

also if you want google to crawl you site faster, you can set that in webmaster tools, however again i would say to let google determine the crawl rate. also the more content and new pages you produce, the more often G will crawl and index.
