Hey everyone just wondering, sine google is cracking down on all of the link farms, spam post etc, is it save still to be creating a linkswheels from web2.0 pages or profile linkwheels? Won't google cutup to it eventually and your site will take the beating? Share your thoughts, thanks.

The closed linkwheels of the past do not work as well these days. There are a lot of different viewpoints on how to backlink your website--some people say that having an open linkwheel is totally safe while others believe it still leaves too much of a footprint in Google's eyes.

Keep in mind that Google is smart, you don't want to do something extremely repetitive (always use the same sites, link everything to eachother, have all the same content on all of your wheels, etc) that will get you caught and slapped.

I think you should do some research on link wheels, link pyramids, and maybe check out BassTrackerBoats' Link Push thread in the Buy/Sell Services section. Even if you don't buy his service, you can look at his link diagram and get a better picture of a less "visible" linkwheel.

In short, linkwheels still work... but they may not be exactly the "wheels" that they used to be.

If you are creating the typical closed linkwheel, you will have problems.

Ultimately I think you should try both but I have had success with some small open linkwheels using article directories and web 2.0's.

You will not have problems if you build many layers and interlinking for your linkwheen. Just build a clustered linkwheel and you will always be under cover.
