    Hey Guys,

There has been a lot of talk recently regarding the effectiveness of linkwheeling in the current climate. People have been posting both positive and negitive results using a linkwheel methed. Im looking for a consensus so have set up this poll. Simply select
    Yes
    No
    Depends
After voting just write a couple of lines justifying your answer.

Personlly I believe the reason that linkwheels are not working for some people is that
    A) They are using the simple 6 spoke wheel
    B) They are getting sandboxed for over using the technique

Let me know what you think

    Cheers

Short term runs with a NEW rising keyword from google trends.. Works for traffic very well. But gets overrun fast... Imo not worth it. But effective - yes.

Never really worked for me either. Best to write an article with a link to your site at the bottom and publish. This has never failed to get my site visitors and sales.

Yes, it is working. Less than 1 week using 6 properties from Wordpress Mu blog, still dancing in between rank 10 and 11 from "Results 1 - 10 of about 13,900,000". The effective ways was don't spam your own properties and make it unique. Wait till got indexed before linking each of them. Now my second step to gain top 3 was using Web 2.0 as a properties of each my 6 properties. But I must do it slowly to avoid any sandbox of anything like penalties. That is my thought and it seems works well. Need to wait for 2-3 month to see whether it is effective and constant method.

Link wheeling is still working very well and I believe will continue to work great for quite a while more.

The most common I see with people trying link wheels are:

    • They don't target the right keywords
    • They don't put in enough effort

Many people just create their pages, link them, do some initial linking strategies, and then stop.

You need to promote your link wheels on a daily basis if you want to see good results. Now this takes a lot of hard work and time. So if you do not have software like SENuke, BMD, etc, you will have a harder time than someone who does.

My advice would be to start out tarketing only keywords that can be easily dominated first. Once you start making money, re-invest into some software and/or outsourcing to free up your time so that you can focus on making more money and also go after the keywords that are harder to dominate.

Just because Google loves Squidoo, Blogger, Weebly, or whatever web 2.0 site does not mean your site will get ranked just because you put your content on it and pinged it. You need a strong daily backlinking and promotional plan to get the real results.

Well, without getting into too long of a dissertation.....

Linkwheels work well but IMHO WAY too many people build them "literally" And the BigG knows about linkwheels...

The good part is that a linkwheel that has one spoke connected to another link wheel, and on and on and on looks more random. And building links to the outside spokes in a linkwheel makes it look even more random.

And that (to me) seems to be the real key to linkwheels.. They work terrific initially, but if you don't introduce at least a little "wildcard" randomness they arn't as effective over time.

    Great post by 4alllifestyles.

I totally agree. Having a set way of linking is going to make your link wheels less effective.

Adding a switch up will help your link wheels appear more natural and will thus be more effective.

Too many people get stale in their marketing, and this is how you get stuck into a robotic routine.

Making your link wheels appear natural is also key in their effectiveness.

I am now building my first linkwheel - writing 6 original articles for 6 sub pages of my site, and spinning them into 24 more (24 web 2.0). Spinning has taken 10 hours.

But once the web 2.0s are up, do you hit them with comment spam?

Also, another thing - is it essential to wait until all web 2.0s have been indexed before adding the links in your linkwheel?
