I want to creat a bunch of linkwheels to help rank my own site and I want the web 2.0 sites to rank. I want to take over the first page of google. However I have noticed that the web 2.0 URLs that match my keyword have been taken.

For example. My own site is widgets.com. The web 2.0 sites have this taken already widgets.wordpress.com.

What I want to know is if I add an additional word to the web 2.0 URL, will it reduce the effectiveness of the linkwheel. For example:
    widgets-now.wordpress.com
    widgets-tobuy.blogspot.com

    ?

Will it also effect the ranking of teh web 2.0 for the search term "widgets"?

    Thanks for your input guys

That's the way to go. I actually have to adjust and be imaginative with my blogging strategy according to the available Web 2.0 URL's I can realistically acquire. Since I'm using mostly blogspot blogs right now, I don't commit to a keyword (or phrase) until I actually get the URL.

Across several domains, it's really very hard to be consistent. A lot of the popular domains have already been colonized a long time ago and there is a real shortage of good URL's. So, you really have to be both creative and flexible.
