Linkwheel Indexing problems

I've got 10 linkwheels on the go at the moment, on different keywords. Two are up and running and working well - they were indexed and ranking within 10 days. The rest, however, are barely getting indexed at-all after nearly twice that period.

I follow a rule of not joining up the links in the linkwheel until google has indexed all the sites, but it's taking forever.

All wheels are made up of different web 2.0 properties, signed up under different emails. Numbers vary from 8 to 24. Each linkwheel site contains a good length original article, which is human readable and I believe it to be more than google-worthy.

I have:

  • Pinged each linkwheel site once
  • Made 2 x PR5 backlinks to each site from different domains
Every time I look, there's just no progress whatsoever with the indexing. I have nearly 100 web 2.0 properties sitting there doing nothing, waiting to be indexed!

Anyone else had these issues?

You're not the only one Micallef. I'm having the exact same problems with the 2.0 sites I made for linkwheel. Even after 2+ weeks. Some get indexed in the 1st few days. others it seems will never be indexed it's been 3 weeks to a month for some... even after going back and adding more posts and original content, pinging again and subbminting my rss feeds.
 
the only time I have this problem is when I ping the web 2.0 site. I am not going to do this anymore. I am going to Social Bookmark the web 2.0 sites but not ping them. DOnt know if thats anything to do with it, but its happened a few times now
 
You might also create a blogger blog and drop links to your properties there. I found that that really kicks them -- if of course google hasn't decided to ignore these properties for some other reason...

For example -- do you have some text on these properties? If yes, it is the same or similar? If yes, why would google bother indexing them? :)
 
well, I've been facing these indexing problems on a regular basis too... tried pinging and social bookmarking both... am trying some other methods now... will post results soon...
 
Generally if i bookmark my URL's at digg.com and mixx.com they are indexed the same day. I have yet to find an instance where this has not occurred.
 
make a rss feed with links to all the web2.0 properties, then submit the feed to a few aggregators, bookmark the feed and ping it... i get my links indexed in 1-2 days doing that!
btw, to make rss feeds i use http://feedmarklet.com
 
Pinging them will certainly help you. Social bookmark is a better option to get your site crawled if in case you cant wait for long. There is no way your wheel can go ignored as long as you have some links pointing to them from sites like reddit.

I think thats why a lot of people are struggling with indexing. I made roughly 100 blogs last month. Most were indexed within 24 hours. Most were bookmarked.

Many linkwheel reports tells us its fine to use dup content but that doesnt seems to stand up to common google practice.

dup content = supplimentry

So they might get indexed initially, then deindexed. That's not a linkwheel issue, that's a content issue.

I'm not saying the linkwheel doesnt work but im saying most indexing issues can be avoided
 
The best thing to do is keep going. Don't worry about them getting indexed, they will. Instead of worrying about how long it takes to get indexed you could have started on a whole new niche or 2.0 property.

Those 2.0 sites are crawled daily by spiders and they WILL get indexed, just be patient. As I said in the mean time just keep building and building and building; don't stop.

It's a while since I started this thread, and I've realised this is by far the best attitude to have regarding web 2.0 properties. It can be a bit daunting after a week to see that Google hasn't touched your wheel - you start wondering if they're "on to you". If you've used a natural looking pattern you should have no trouble.

Did you end up bookmarking all those sites or were they just discovered on their own over time?

I don't bookmark my linkwheels at present. All properties are found by Google eventually - either on their own, or via high powered backlinks from comment spam.
 
I have the same problem, I guess i'm not patient enough

My first one to get indexed was wordpress and the first one to get taken down was blogger...lol.
 
I just put new content on my linkwheel properties that didn't get index yet and put a few backlinks on it and it seems working when checking it using "site:" few days later.
 
I stopped using SEnuke because of this. After creating 1 wheel a day, I had only a couple of blog posts indexed after about 2 months+
 
I think the secret is adding more content than most other people. You need a few pages, etc.
 
like i said before, the rss feed trick works wonders...
 
If any of my pages are linked, I only bother linking to one in the chain, that gets them all indexed. I have been putting my links in right away (one or two). I dont see the point of completing the wheel, they will all interlink in some way eventually. No big exotic linking diagram, no specific linking pattern. I don't give a damn where I add my crosslinking but they will end up on relevant pages anyway, as and when required.
