    Hey guys,
I am looking at some of the services out there to get some links. I have tried to do some myself slowly (articles etc) but compared to my competition, I have virtually no links. (30-40 mine vs well ranking competition 1700+)
Honestly, their links look extremely weak but the site ranks high. (service business in a large city)

Since there are so many options out there in 2015 in regards to link building services, where should I start? How many links are too much in certain periods of time? What number PR links should I target? I just read that people should focus on predominantly pr 3 and 4. Is that accurate or should I spend a little more $$ and target fewer pr 9's?

This just seems to always be a constantly moving target...thanks for any insight that you can offer.

Set up your own PBN with expired domains and dont look at the PR. Look at other metrics. And most importantly look for the good backlinks.

For about $200 you can create your own PBN with 10 websites. Even with all 10 PBN websites PR n/a, you will get way more ranking power, than with any public service offering you high PR backlinks.

It depends on your site's current standing.

If Amazon.com got 1000 links today it wouldn't spell trouble for them, as they have millions of backlinks.

But if a brand new unknown site got 1000 links it'd be dead before you could spell PR.

haha...thank you for some direction. :) It's funny though, I always feel so dumb when I ask these questions. As soon as I start to grasp what I 'think' I should do, more questions come up. Now I am like what's a PBN? I looked it up and it's a Private Blog Network...now to figure out how to set it up. To this point, I have swayed away from wanting to pay for links...now I feel like I have to do something because my ranking basically sucks. I started the site back in 2007. (Again a service business)

...on a side note, how do most of you make money off your sites? (just curious) Are most of your sites based around ad revenue type stuff? Are there any good sites around that might teach someone new to this how to set that stuff up? Thanks again.

I have sites with 20-30 BLs outranking sites with more than 1,7k links, so the number of BLs should not be your concern.

Humm...that's interesting. I have just gotten to the point where I am like, "Where on earth can I post an article today?" ...and I feel like the backlinks from some of these sites don't even show up when I look for them with a backlink checker. Do people backlink G+ business pages as well? Is it worth doing that? ...Geez, I have been toying around with SEO since I created this site in 07 and I still feel so stupid in regards to SEO. I have quite a bit of duplicate (well... spun actually) material that I am working to get rid of as we speak as well -ha. Good times.

Thanks for the direction...I will work on what I need to do to get a PBN rolling. In the meantime, I have found seemingly good link provider that I'd like to get at least few rolling if possible. They write niche related articles and slap a link in there for you. for my 2007 site, if I roll 100-200 links out there now, would you think that is a fairly safe situation? [This is my main question here] - thanks!

The free backlink checkers that I have tried have been quite inaccurate as well. Some say 32, some zero?? I should be linked all over the place (heck,at a minimum there should be links showing from Facebook, twitter, G+, past articles that I have written etc). I haven't worked on the site for awhile though.

    Hi
I recommend you to use links from different sites: blogs, news, press realizes, forums, comments, social media. It's all work and you will get result.
And I suggest you to think about content marketing, it'll help you.
    Good Luck
