I am trying to build web 2.0 link wheel around my main site and do article submissions with 2 links: one link to my main site, one link to the next wheel.

    My link wheel:
    1. squidoo
    2. wordpress
    3. blogger
    4. livejournal
    5. quizilla
    6. xanga
    7. hubpage
    8. tumblr
    9. weebly

Choice #1. Spend 1 hour to crank up 3 articles and submit these 3 unique articles to concentrate on building link juice on wordpress, blogger, and squidoo. Repeat this process.

Choice #2. Spend 3 hours to crank up 9 articles and build link juice on all 9 web 2.0 sites. Repeat this process.

MY QUESTION: Which one is more smarter/time efficient, any suggestions?

You want to be careful with link wheels these days, big G has got wise to them and they leave a footprint becasue all the pages/sites are interlinked.

The way to go now is more "pyramid" linking, which is a similar concept but you build 2nd, 3rd tier links from each 1st level web property to enforce the link.

Search for pyramid links on this forum for a (much) better description.

I have used both options with the same results. If you want to have time for other things, choose the time saver.

So the difference between link wheel and link push is basically don't interlinik the tier 1 hubs?

In a word Yes. You avoid interlinking and leaving those footprints and use other methods to ensure your links get indexed (Linklicious for ex.) Let's face it one of the main purposes of the link wheel was to hasten the indexing of all the links but the SEs caught on as they tend to.

How many articles have you got on each tier 1 hub - just 1 or 2?

Do they link to your money site immediately?

Were they all set up in a few days?

Do they all have similar titles and urls?

    All huge footprints.

How many articles have you got on each tier 1 hub - just 1 or 2? some just 1, some 2-3.

Do they link to your money site immediately? yes, there's 2 links on each web 2.0 property. 1 link to my money site, one link to the next web 2.0 property. but I thought that was how link wheel works?

Were they all set up in a few days? about within a week.

Do they all have similar titles and urls? I spin the title so not exact but kinda similar...

    Am I screwed?

    No don't panic.

If it was that easy to screw up a website everyone would be doing it to their competitors.

Yes that is how a link wheel works, it's just not advisable to do things this way any longer for reasons identified earlier.

Just stop doing it that way and go with the pyramid model and you will be fine.

create hubpages, squidoo with good content also add wp and blogger _-> tier 1
create 8-10 tier 2 with completely different article linking back to these 4 sites...and also link tier 2 together but keep it open...
this is very simple yet effective,,,and also cheap (fiverr)

So I will need (4 tier 1 article) + (10 tier 2 article)x4(tier 1) = 44 article to build this pyramid? or is it ok to spin the tier 2 articles...?
