A little background - I've got an above average handle on On-Page SEO, but I am an idiot when it comes to Link building. I understand links, LinKJuice, PageRank, Authority, Trust, Anchor Text, Penguin, Panda, over-optimization, duplicate content, link velocity, etc. I just don't understand what these services and software packages are doing beyond directory submissions and link buys. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I need some sort of reference guide to help me understand the various link building techniques as well as a glossary. I tried looking at the various services and automated software packages, but I don't have the vocabulary to understand what they do. I need to understand more about link pyramids, link wheels, content marketing, etc. I also saw some teasers from outfits like Network Empire, The Hoth, LinkBlast, LinkAloha, etc. and all look promising. I have a decent budget for Link Building for my company, but I need some help with evaluation. I want to maximize my bang for the buck without winding up as a cautionary tale on Matt Cutts' blog.
