Limit Download on Single File

I had written a massive article and accompanying e-book in my niche and reached out to some people I know that are involved in the same area. I had put a social locker on my e-book download, but the download is straight from my host. One of the people I know posted the article on their website, but linked straight to the e-book (no social lock). They have tons more visitors than me, and I would like to know how I can limit the download of a person.

For example, if someone comes from their website to mine (straight to the PDF link), it will check if they have shared/liked/tweeted the article first, and then allow them to download if they have (but only from my site).

Is there any way to do this? Much appreciated

I think that the only way to do this is to contact people who published the article and kindly ask them to redirect the link to your site, where the social link is.

Yeah what I did was ask them to do that; but I also renamed the PDF file and put a 301 redirect on the old link straight to the article. Should do for now I think.
