Well, for the last two months or so, I've been staying with some friends of mine while I both look for a job and at the same time, try and get my iM business up off the ground..which itself hasn't gone the way I had hoped.

Anyway, about an hour or so ago, I was informed by these 'friends' that they're going to have to move out soon (Probably in less then a month) due to their own financial issues, and now I'm starring down the possibility of winding up homeless if either I can't find a job (I happen to live in a city that is in the Top 10 for HIGHEST unemployment w/in California) or start making money at IM'ing..

Funny thing, I woke up this morning in some pretty good spirits, but now, I feel more like..."why am i even alive"...

Been unemployed since August of 08'..I've sold everything I possibly could to even survive this long and am now on Govt. Assistance in order to put food on the table.

Dude I really feel sorry for you. I hope you start making money soon and you don't end up homeless. I'm in CA too but in SoCal and I'm self employed. Trust me when I say that if I can make money in IM then you can too. I'm one of the laziest persons you will ever get to know but I still make a good living in IM.

Sounds like you're pretty young so if you can't make money on IM for now, then do what you have to do to survive and get a job. It might not be what you want for now but at least it'll put a roof over your head and food on the table. If you have to work for McDonalds, BK, Wal-Mart, KFC, Fat Burgers, restaurant or any other place.

Big companies aren't hiring right now. The only industry that I know of that's hiring is in the health field so look at clinics, hospitals and doctors offices.

Do what you gotta do to survive.

I agree with this, you have been jobless since august, surely you could have found a job like that to hold you over until you get a better one.. idk... good luck

    Wish I was 'young'...then again, I think 39 is the 'new 29'...LMAO!

To make matters worse, I've got no gas in my car...as the little orange indicator has come on saying.."Umm...time for more gas a-hole!"...:)

I also just noticed...dont' ask me how I didn't know this before...that my car registration expired as of Feb 09....(For some reason, I thought it was up in October! DOH!)...oh! and I got two bald-ass front tires!

I've actually applied at all the local 'fast-food' shops that I can easily walk to, or even take a bus...but no luck!

Then again, I do have a few cans I take into the recycling center and get enough for a lotto ticket or some shit...wouldn't that be just simply fucking incredible if I were to win...Talk about a 'rags to riches' story!

Of course, I've been playing almost every week and still no luck, so I'm not even sure why I still play...guess it's the old saying.."you won't win if you don't play!'...LMAO!

Am I panicking..no..guess it's the optimistic side of me coming through...but at the same time...this shit is getting to be pretty fucking tiring if you ask me...'trying to get a job! trying to get IM biz going...struggling to put food on the table'...just a few weeks ago, I was oh-so-close to just throwing in the towel and saying 'forget it...let the chips fall wherever they want'...and just go through life not caring...

Oh well...just talking about this sh** sorta helps...thanks for listening/reading/whatever..

    Peace out!

one thing i don't like about im is you have to wait 1-2 months to get paid. that's why i still do ebay in addition to im because its instant money when i need it. do you have an ebay account? if so, you would be surprised at the shit you can buy at walmart or biglots and resell on ebay for a profit. i have found many products before that i sold on ebay uk or in europe and made a nice profit. the best ones are the ones that i sell first and then buy the product to ship to the customer. i used to make a killing selling roombas but that kind of dried up. one time a big lots had a shit load of diabetic test strips from a rite aid closeout and i made like $500 selling those for 2 weeks. one christmas season i made like $15,000 selling refurbished roombas. i've sold many misc. products. you'd be surprised of what people will buy online. i always search ebay international sites because much of the time you can buy stuff at full retail and resell it overseas for a nice profit. hope that helps.

H2o boy you need to get out of NoCA as fast as possible, do you know anyone in portland? If I could being someone who has been without home and if I could tell you portland is the best place to go when in need. Way to many resources will never starve and you would have a better fighting chance to get on your way.

What are your skills? What were you doing at your last job and what CAN you do, at another job?

What could you do in the way of some of the offline stuff that has been posted around here? You've been working at the IM stuff for a while with little or no results. What type of stuff are you able to do in that area? Anything you can do for others?

Time for a skills inventory, to identify what direction to go. I know it's tough to remain optimistic, but I know how it is to feel like you're just on the brink of a break-through and how tough it is to keep going.

Got any friends or family anyplace else that might let you sleep in their basement for a while? Sounds like your car is pretty much useless to you so sell it and buy a bus ticket, if there's anywhere you can go.

As others have said, the thing to do is try and stay as calm as you can. A positive outlook will pay off 2X in the end, and probably enable you to get help from others much faster in the meantime. IM is a bitch of a business to gain success in, and it took me a few years to really get a handle on the basic game plan. If it is something you want to do and be a success at, then you will do so. No one can stand in your way. The biggest competition for anyone in IM is themselves. I know this is all sounding like smoke and sunshine, but just posting on the forum is a huge step in telling yourself what it is that you want to do with your life. Try and get to the cheapest place possible to live and continue to work at it. You'll break out of this spell of tough luck in no time.

Used to have a brother up in Oregon, but then his fat-ass moved and went to Salt Lake City, UT and then he kept pushing me to move out there...and then I got tired of his sh** and pretty much stopped talking to his 'born again Mormon ass!'..LOL!

Got a friend up in WA who is an adult webmaster, but he's not the kind to respond to emails any time soon...but we'll have to wait and see..

I went the 'offline route' about 3 months ago, but in this part of N. California it's pretty much farm land..and I don't speak the language...(Predominantly Spanish)..I spent many of weeks and way too much money in gas...going around to stores who I had found didn't have a website and offered them both web hosting and all the other bells/whistles...Even D/L'd a popular offline marketing course here on BHW to help with the overall presentation and sh**...but no one ever went for it...

Got no one to really fall back on and I got about a month, maybe two..who knows...stuff is still pretty much up in the air...before I really start assuming the worst...still staying optimistic..not sure how or why, guess it just sorta comes naturally.. :)

Oh well..thanks for the replies...it helps to know that others out there actually read what I say..sometimes...LOL!

This guy took the words right outta my mouth (articles). In my opinion, try your hardest for a stable job and literally every moment you can dedicate to it, write articles. You can live off of it if you really have to.

Have comfort in that and try to put on a different face tomorrow. Read some inspirational threads here on BHW and listen to some sweet music. It will help.

Agreed Article writing is one of those grunt jobs that no one wants to do but needs to be done.

    I highly advise you:
    1. get a paypal account
    2. get a paypal debit card
    3. bust your @ss doing some article writing and make a few quick bucks to keep food on the table and gas in your car. then using your hard earned gas money find a real 9-5.

...If your not in the right financial situation trying to enter the IM industry can leave you broke or with a lot of wasted time and no profits.

    Article Writing profits:

    $2.5 * 2/hr * 8 = $40/day
    $2.5 * 3/hr * 8 = $60/day

    8hrs * 30 days @ 3 articles per hour = $1800/mo

    $3.5 * 2/hr * 8hr = $56 / day
    $3.5 * 3/hr * 8hr = $84 / day

    8hrs * 30 days @ 3 articles per hour = $2520/mo

...And those are just some base level prices. that's enough for rent, food, and gas in many places.

... You won't get rich but, you can stay alive doing article writing.

Manual Blog Commenting is also another highly under rated profit potential:
    $0.15/comment * 90 comments /hr = $13.50/hr [Rates based on people I've hired in the past]

    Hope this helps :)
