I've been lurking on the forums for somewhile watching others succeed, but never actually signed up until recently. Spent the last couple years developing a tool for social media marketing. Finally launching it! Marketing isn't really my strong point, so I've been learning on and off from BHW posts. *unofficial thanks to you all*

After seeing your inspiring stories, I'm giving this a shot. You're right in that most people fail or give up at some point documenting their journey. A small goal will keep me on my toe. 25 subscriptions seems reasonable, don't you think?

The tool is called Pull Share, a social media dashboard that automates IM on Facebook and Twitter. Here's a brief summary so you can understand how 2 years can pass by so quickly...

    • Repeat posting
    • Content discovery
    • Automated scheduling
    • Blog integration
    • Unified social inbox
    • Multi-account management
    • and comparison analytics
Kind of an all-in-one so it took so long to launch. Each piece is tied together, but I haven't seen it in use yet by real people.

What's done so far on my journey:
    1. Dashboard launched and tested internally
    2. Copy written and website designed
    3. Snazzy promotional video created with the help of a really great Fiverr voiceover artist, iMovie, and Pizza Hut pizza
    4. Coupon system integrated so I can give accounts to early adopters / testers
    5. Subscription payment system setup and tested.

    Goals coming up:
    1. Find 5 people to giveaway tester coupons for feedback
    2. Rank in top 3 for the Pull Share branding keyword
    3. Target 3 additional keywords for ranking (blog commenting?)
    4. Setup automated promotion on Facebook and Twitter using the tool itself
    5. Research a few sites to setup test ad campaigns (BuySellAds?)
    6. Develop a Mac/Windows app remake of the interface (possibly to earn a little extra from repurposing the tool)
    7. Get the first happy customer. YEAH! :) ...followed by 24 more? *crossing fingers*

Hope to keep you entertained, at least while the world cup matches aren't.

The tool sounds great and will probably make the lives of many people much easier.

If you would like someone to test the tool out and provide feedback, I will be here - just shoot me a PM.

You should update the thread as you complete more things on your to-do list, I'd love to follow this to its fruition.

First, thanks Mindanao, NovumDominus and nterr0r for your positive encouragement. You're perfect examples of why this forum can be so great sometimes.

David Allen, the GTD guy gave a presentation at TED once. A summary of the keypoints, if you ever want to finish what you start:

    1. [*=1]Write it all down. You know, those things you want to do.
[*=1]Then write all actions you can figure out, for each. Usually todos aren't actually todos but rather just a vague topic like "get more followers on twitter". So it's important, he says, to write exactly how you're going to get more followers? (Tweets? Hashtags? Auto-follow backs?) Write down the steps.
[*=1]Then you put them all into a plan. Do this monday morning, do this afterwards, etc. During this step normally you'll discover things that you forgot about before and add them to your list.
[*=1]Lastly, you repeat the steps, because you can only see so far, and things will get muddy again.

And someone else once said after you have a clear goal, get accountability. So thanks for the accountability. :)

Today was goal #2, ranking higher for the main keyword. Added links from sites I own to see if it affects the ranking. Will roll out across the sites this weekend. Low hanging fruit FTW

Next, for goal #1, just getting real people using it is important too. NovumDominus and nterr0r, I'll PM you accounts. Hosting is a scalable S3, downside is that it might be slow right now because I'm on the cheapest S3 plan until my journey is a bit more successful. So giving away a few accounts is fine by me if you don't mind pages loading slowly for now. I hope you rake in cash! :)

Just a thought today: Do you think there's a chance a marketer would partner up for a substantial revenue share? Just the idea seems like a win-win

Next update on Monday. For now, a quick Saturday update: Invites sent for 3 beta testers, still need 2 more for goal #1. Will ask an IM friend I know, but I still need one more tester.

If you know someone, let me know.
