Hey guys, I just wanted to bring to attention some issue that's been bugging me a while now. I maybe wrong but here it goes. I think that there should be a disclaimer on threads or posts about stuff that's not safe for work (most of it found in the lounge). Some of us have day jobs besides the IM life. Some of us have kids around us when we work from home, some of us have their parents or girlfriends walking around when we lurk around BHW, and most importantly some of the BHW members are GIRLS/WOMEN!!! And if you view a thread that contains adult material (or close to it) or you have links posted by trolls that open sites with the "windmill" and other disgusting stuff, it can create some weird ass situations. I know that if you wanna punk another member with a legit looking url that contains the "windmill" you can't really put a disclaimer on in or it will ruin the fun but other threads showing almost naked bodies, they could contain the NSFW tag (Not Safe For Work). Lemme tell you a little story: A few months ago, beeing at the office, I was doing the morning ritual which is logging on BHW, reading some threads, posting some answers (some helpful to the OP's I hope). Suddenly, le wild thread appears and me clicks it. It was something about a fellow member seeking help about some kw search difficulties he had. Before posting some answer I read the other posts. One of the posts had a link to a googlewhatever.com url. Out of curiosity I clicked it (it seemed highly relevant to the thread and I hate posting the same idea that a previous member posted on the same thread). Needless to say Tons of popup windows spawned on my monitor and my headphones blasted with the "You spin me right round" song. The popup windows contained the damn "windmill". Nothing extraordinary you think, but, the key part was that next to me stood my esteemed and appreciated colleague who happens to be a girl. Our monitors are 1 foot apart so, yeah, she saw everything. But let's get back to the story. After this visual molestation and hit by the panic of "dammit she's seeing this shit, quick genious do something!!!!" I ended up pushing the on/off button on my desktop unit (after the CTRL+ALT+DEL didn't yield the desired result). With the awkwardest face ever, I turned to my colleague, first thought was "run for the hills motherfucker, become a monk and never look back!!!!", but I ended up saying "umm, sorry?! ". Hopefully she was like "LOL, I'll survive this". Being her boss saved me I guess... So, the point of this story is, let's make BHW safer for all of us who don't work from home, alone. Or at least give a heads up for the poor soul who has to work with other people around him. What do you guys think? PS: I'll never click one link posted in this thread, no matter how legit it looks, this I can promise you. This thread will be a troll magnet but the message I want to send is SOUND in my opinion.
