I'm launching a webdesign agency, and I've been thinking what to put on the classic "about us" page... usually people put up small photos and short bios of each of their team members, but since I'm all alone in this, at least for the beginning, I was thinking of taking some nice stock photos, make up some bios and make them look friendly and welcoming.
Could I get in legal trouble, for, like, making up fake identities or such? Do you guys have any other idea?

    Thanks!

You don't need that. There are plenty of about us pages without id's or photos.

Depending on where you are, you may get in trouble. In my region that is false advertising and false ID, it's meant to mislead the user and probably illegal in most places. Especially if you're outed as a fake, your reputation is doomed.

I am doing this for a while, nothing happened. Some customers even didn;t see these. Most customers watch these but no question about these, they are focus on the quality of what you(your fake company) done.

Of course, My business is just small, I don't know if it will cause problem when get bigger. But I think if you get bigger, you can actually hire some real stuffs.

Use the term "we" a lot. Nobody knows or is going to call you out if it's just you and your cat, for example.

I think this could be false advertising. Also, if you are getting paid under a fake name I think that causes more legal trouble. I would get a bunch of friends together and use their photos as long as they agree.

nah, payment will always be in my name, since I believe any other way to do it would be too shady, at least for now. I don't know that many people that would look presentable in a suit ... then again, I'm only 20, so my friends aren't that much older, either ...young people in suits just don't give out a "pro" image
    thanks anyway!
