I just want to know one thing, I want to know if the things I am doing are legal or not. Please guide me.

One of my dream project, a movie website is under construction. I am putting up hand written content for every movie that I upload. I am using wordpress theme. The problem here is I don't satisfy my visitors if I don't show them movie as I promised in my website. I promised to show Free Movies Online. So to resolve this, I am thinking about making the website somewhat like letmewatchthis.com, in that website they share posts and below the posts they share links of the websites which actually provide free movies.
    Like:-
If I want to watch Happy Feet, I go to my post and find only content and some trailers, I also want to add some links below them which will lead them directly to links like: http://megashare.info/watch-happy-feet-online-TVRRNQ
IS THIS LEGAL? WILL THIS HURT MY WEBSITE?
And also I would like to add a download section, I will provide the download link but is this legal too?

Please help me guys, before I destroy my website I want to take some advise.

    Thanks and Regards

In my country it is 100% legal since you host nothing.
However law is different from country to country, you have to ask people from your country.

I am from India by the way, and I don't think law here is too strict.

As long as your not hosting the movies on your server it's not illegal.

It may not be illegal but you're probably going to be hit with DMCA warnings autposted.

Just host the site in a torrent friendly country, make sure your name is not tied to it in any way.

I'm guessing your in America? That's the worst place to live (Mind you the UK is right behind you) if you run a DMCA copyright website.

Btw didn't that guy who ran TV Shack get busted for showing links to copyrighted material? Can't remember his name right now!

Its one of them things that is in the middle. Technically its not really illegal in most countries but I can guarantee you will get a lot of DMCA complaints. A lot of websites have been shut down for this exact reason when they get popular. One example is tvlinks/tvmuse they do the same thing and come under constant attack by DMCA Complaints and have been sued in the process.

EDIT: If you plan to do this, you must have an offshore hosting that ignores DMCA. If you have it hosted in the USA, your site wont last long.

Its simple - if you don't get money its not a problem. That means your website must have 0 ads ... and then comes the question - how do I pay my bills because a media website need a looot of money . Also you have to delete every link that DMCA wants to... otherwise they will sue you. That is what I have learned last 5 years in this niche ^^ . ps. another example - a torrent tracker was sued, after they removed all ads, the tracker is now working again but every link that DMCA want to remove is removed by the admin. So ... now they have some stupid old movies and TV shows and from 1m. visitors they dropped to a few K. and of course 0 income

Thanks for your response, I think I can go forward in posting links because I am from India and DMCA warning, I will think when I reach that point, maybe I can flip the website when I reach that point.

It should not be illegal but if I was you I would safeguard myself with offshore hosting and some anonymity.
It is really not worth taking a chance on.
