ok lets say you bought something from me that was digital or a link and i never gave it to you...and you threaten to talk to payp@l about it? but then i tell payp@l i already sent the item and that hes just trying to get the money back... is there any legal issues i might run into? like im probably going to give it back to him but i would like to know if there is...i heard that payp@l cant really do anything about digital stuff because it cant be traced... is this true?

any help would be greatly appreciated..

It can't really be traced but you pretty much just said you scammed/plan to scam another internet user. You wouldn't be asking if you weren't up to anything fishy now would you? :4

yeah see thats the thing im NOT actually scamming the person... but i mean i guess if they were to look into my account they might keep an eye on it.. and if someone else was to complain they would probably freeze it..am i right? i just gave the guy the money back and made some shit up but im just curious as to whether or not they can actually find out or if any legal issues can come about with this...

STOP FLAMMING ME it was a mistake, i change it now.

If I were you, I would refund them the money and forget it ever happened. Theres only so much PayPal can do, but alot the person that was defrauded could do. You ever been ripped off before ArmyBoy?

Im new posting, but lerked for a while. Im pretty sure the idea of BlackHatWorld is leaning more twords tactical webmaster vs. straight up scammer. Going after the little guy makes you a POS in my opinion, thats what affiliate companies are for. Jerk.

This happens to me on a daily basis with poll factory. THe buyer always wins. It's a completely biased system.

Why do you feel the need to scam people? Is it personal? just trying to get something for free?

If it's the latter, just be aware that SOME people put many many hours into their digital products, and many of them are well worth the money.

ok HOLD UP that came out COMPLETELY wrong and i totally should have proof read that one. and i deserve that but what i meant to say was i was NOT trying to scam him or anyone for that matter. so chill out with the flamming.

I've had it happen to me as well, the last time it cost me almost 2k. If you sell something digital and the buyer makes a claim such as an unauthorized transaction the seller can't do crap.

i can see that...but what happens if the transaction was after a few days old? would the transaction still happen? and dont they need proof that it was a unauthorized transaction?

What do you mean "after a few days old"?

I received a credit card chargeback 50 days after the buyer had paid me and the transaction went through.

whhhaaat damn :yield: .. that blows. well i gave the money back to him so w.e. its all good.

if u just out there to scam people then all u have to do is make a trow away paypal account and withdraw that cash really quick hope i didn't give anyone ideas:D

I sell a downloadable software product via paypal (legit software developed by me) On odd occasions I get a paypal complaint, usually because the user can't figure out how to use the software, I allways issue a refund and forget about it...

A while ago one idiot made a complaint and immediately upped it to a claim, for "substantially not as described". PayPal denied the claim saying they don't cover 'not as described" for downloadable items. If the buyer had said "not delivered" then it may have been different.

What about your weblogs? Unless of course they used a proxy.

Once again. Paypal won't protect the buyer for digital products, however if the buyer used their credit card through PayPal, then can dispute through their credit card and PayPal will issue the refund.

For a physical product Paypal will protect the seller against dispute if it is shipped to a verified address, but the buyer can still do a credit card chargeback if they prove that they returned the product.

I have had an instance where i did get the download link but my download stopped in the middle. The seller was not willing to give another link. And i told paypal that i never got any link.

Paypal didn't do anything. But i guess if there was another complaint like that then that seller must have had a hard time... maybe they would end up with a frozen account.

I've been screwed by PayPal both as a buyer and seller...learned how to deal with them along the way. A buyer can always get their cash back by doing a chargeback with their credit card. Once this happens, even if PayPal tries to collect from you, they can't really do anything.

When I was a buyer and filed a complaint after the period of time paypal allows as I was trying to work with the seller to resolve the problem, PayPal told me I waited too long and they couldn't help me. I filled a chargeback and PayPal froze my account and put a negative balance on it. They sent the matter to collections but I just sent a letter back asking for proof of debt which they couldn't provide and that was the end of that.

PayPal is a shitty provider and I stay away from them as often as possible.
