EMDs and Private Blog Networks Still Dominate on Google

I support Whitehat SEO despite I?ve done a lot of dark stuff back in the day.

Google made almost 1000 algorithm changes in 2014 alone but websites with thin content still dominate on top organic results. They are powered by private blog networks (PBN) or other ?forbidden? tactics. Even multi-million brands invest in link buying.

Today I will show you an example how a website ranks in competitive niche with 9,200,000 monthly searches for last 8 months with big but basic private blog network and a 354 words long article on exact match domain.

It might get 9 million views but I assume 90% are under the age of 14 and unlikely to buy anything. With the amount he had to invest I don't see why he didn't go after a niche that is more likely to get hungry buyers.

From my experience one good PBN can work undetected for at least 6-9 months. He didn't cover his footprints. It is matter of time before he goes down.

This website already made enough money to launch bigger network.

You can see users demographics of original website ranking on #1 http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/www.totaljerkface.com

Even if you are right, he use adsense and similar ad networks. They have banner for 14 years old as well :)

It's easy to rank for an unprofitable keyword. If the keyword "happy wheels" was a profitable keyword and not some keyword related to free online gaming, that site wouldn't be where it is now.

Lots of great info here. I actually have speculated about Link Echoes for a while but it's my experience that you actually have to have the link in place for some time even after it's indexed.

Looks like you have no experience with Adsense my friend. You don't have a clue what is a competitive niche as well.

Lol, the adsense CPC's on that kind of niche are going to be shit. This is NOT a "competitive" niche/keyword.

You really make me laugh :) I understand you don't make money with ad networks and websites with high traffic. When you,ve got high traffic and regular CPC is let's say $0.10 you still make a lot of money. For example I own several similar websites and 2-3k uniques per day, 70% from U.S bring ~ $60-100. It is about CTR at the end of the day too.

And let me tell you something. Adsense and most ad networks are interest based, which means if a person who is interested in "mesothelioma attorney" or another expensive keywords all newbies go after, visit your website he will get ad about his interest.

The real money in ad networks such as Adsense are in the traffic volumes.
