Hi, anyone living in northern Europe here like Germany or Sweden? 2 weeks from now I'll travel to Sweden/Denmark and this outbreak actually frighten me a bit. Take a look at this news:

    http://anonymizeit.com/?http://www....ss-europe-as-scientists-search-for-cause.html

Apparently the source of this new e. coli variant is still unknown :( i really dont want to get infected when i arrive there. You guys have any recommendation on how to eat properly with the least risk possible on this? I heard that as long as the foods are properly served (boiled properly), the bactery will just die before we eat it. However, im not familiar enough with nordic foods so i dont know which one is boiled and which one serves raw vegetables, etc.

*PS: I know the scientists made a new discovery. They believe the bactery appears to be coming from northern area of germany so people who died outside germany were the ones whom had been to that area before. But still, i just want to know if there's anything i can do to minimize all the risks?

i heard from news that this new e. coli might not be just from vegetables, might be from fruits as well as even meats. I can, of course, prevent myself to eat vegetables..but fruits and meats? Come on.

I bet the bacteria die when pizza is heated. Most of them anyways :)

    Same with meat.

Also just buy vegetables from your own country if your not from spain :)

lol im always someone who worry too much about my health yet i eat almost everything. I know the chance for that e. coli new thing to infect meat and fruits are probably close to zero but i was asking about how we can get around it as best as we can? I know heat kills bacteria. However since i'm not familiar with nordic foods, i dont know which one was heated up to 100 degree (when it was cooked) and which one wasnt.

Anyway, i'll be in stockholm 2 weeks from now but wont be long there. I will then travel to malmo before I visit Copenhagen.

I know about pizza and common meals man but i always want to try local foods every time i travel :p Maybe with this case i need to eat common meals that have been properly heated lol

and no, i cant buy vegetables from my country. I live in Asia. What would the immigration there think if they know i bring vegetables in my suitcase? LOL.

Well if you are staying in hotel i bet they have taken care of stuff in there.
To be more precice about buying vegetables from your country, i think "buy local" would be accurate expression.

in the main its vegetables and they are saying those not prepared (cleaned) properly are most at risk, also it seems to have affected women more

So ensure you go somewhere and just pass the vegetables and live on fries for a week and you will be fine

Also Sweden is big on fish- no outbreaks there

Dude, there is nothing you can do. You are taking a bigger chance on the plane flight to europe than eating something and possibly getting e.coli.

Stop being such a worried person.
