My girlfriend is a junior analyst with a major institutional investor. Larry Page is holding this private conference call with analysts representing large institutional investors on the west coast. The 4 topics to be covered are 1) Larry Page?s health. 2) Goggle?s exposure to future patent lawsuits. 3) Future privacy regulations. 4) Google?s plans to increase profit margins with their flagship search engine. My girlfriend will be allowed to ask 3 questions. She already has 2 questions that relate to patent lawsuits and privacy regulations. She has asked me to write up a question on Google?s future plans with their search engine. I suggested to her to ask about the future of Micro Niche websites. She kind of giggled and said it was too narrow of a question. She suggested I should ask members of a club or forum for any questions that encompass Google?s search engine future for 3 to 5 years out. I feel really stupid for suggesting that Micro Niche question. So is there anyone out there with a good question to ask that we can all benefit from? She needs it by tomorrow morning.

Umm...record the call so I can *cough, cough* not hedge some bets in the market on Google shares lol.

P.S. Just in case the SEC is watching: 1. Fuck off, and 2. I was kidding about the insider trading thing...please don't bust down my door like you did to Martha S.

That sounds good. I think she might have to re-phrase it a little bit (change the word kill to eliminate). I will give her that question.

Ask him how he would assess the successes or shortcomings of his webspam team.

Ok. Here is what she going to ask according to the 2 suggestions that I have:
"Google still has a commanding percentage of all internet searches. However search engines like Bing seem to be gaining some ground. Google has stated in the past that they are determined to keep searches relevant to what the users are looking for. With new industries like Search Engine Optimization experts cropping up, many experts fear search engine results are being manipulated and thus threatening Google's search engine brand. If Google sees SEO experts and search result manipulators as a threat, what is Google doing about it now and what does he see happening in the near future with search results? "

    Here's a better one.

Do you find it ironic that the algorithm and ranking system you developed is solely responsible for the spam that you fight everyday?

I almost got a chance to meet him several years ago when my boss and I were invited out to Google as part of their client forum. We were in one of the cafeterias having something to eat and he walked by. Our account manager pointed him out to us, and I kind of froze up, lol.

Will continued focus on profit margins hurt the quality of results and therefore user base in the future? (obviously it is already affecting it, but that question might get through.
