    Hi Guys,

In need of a laptop that can cope well with using programs such as Senuke etc and not crawling along at snail speed when doing so. Not really going to use it for games etc but want it to be able to cope well with any BH programs that I might want to use.

I'm from the UK but was thinking of getting a laptop from the states as things are a bit cheaper there and the exchange rate means we get a good deal.

Haven't got a fortune to spend, any recommendations on Spec and where to buy would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Don't buy it from the US if you are in the UK unless you can confirm 100% that there is an international warranty. Otherwise you are going to be screwed if there is a problem. Furthermore voltages could play an issue b/c we have a totally different power system out here.

Spec wise get at least an i5 intel proc & 4gb ram. Windows 7 64bit is the preferred operating system right now. Any specific reason you are leaning towards a lappy vs desktop?

Have a desk top and just wanted to get a laptop as well. Will probably start doing most of work from the laptop so i can free up the desk top for my wife.

Thanks for the advice. Will have a look at the specs you mentioned.

Most bh applications relay on bandwidth rather than cpu power. A mid class cpu with 4 gig ram will do the job. If you will be doing graphic design on the side, then i would suggest 6-8 gig ram instead of 4.

The disadvadtage of a laptop is the overheating problem. This slows down the laptop when u run it on full speed for a few hours. Make sure you get something that has a decent cooling system or you can get external usb coolers as well.

I wanted to chime in to report my experience with a netbook. I do most of my 'front' work with it and my CPU power is rarely a problem. Since like me you have a standard desktop you can control remotely (and VPS in my case...) this might be an inexpensive solution for you too. I'm really glad that apps like scrapebox added a scroller mode to their main window for those who don't have a lot of real estate (< 1280x1024). Other SEO programs are hard or simply impossible to use unless you rely on an external monitor, so be warned... But on the other side I can stay on the move for 8-10 hours without a charge and this is highly beneficial for what WE do... ;-) My 2c.
