Hey guys, My name is Matt, and I am a total newb to IM. Ive done alot of reading, have a bunch of ideas, and have a few programs. I found a product on clickbank that seemed to convert well. I set up a hosting account, and bought a domain. I set up a blog style page with reviews and links. I set everything up on the 15th of April. My site is targeting a long tail keyword in my niche. In less then a month of going live, my site has gone from page 14, to page 2 and on the rise. I submitted the site to social sites like digg, reddit, etc. Ive also posted and backlinked to about 300 wiki sites. Ive also added about 800 twitter followers via tweetadder, targeting a few keywords. Now, heres the problem, I only have 174 hits/168 uniq. The big problem, NO SALES. What else can I do? Any suggestions?

You might have to change up some of your keywords. Add some longtail keywords and try to rank for those. You might find that a keyword converts better than you expected.

EDIT: Also - diversify. Don't just have one site. Do many things

Welcome to the site, you'll be in good company here. You're doing this for the right reasons so I pray it all works out for you. I'm sure you'll get some sales soon!

    Remember... Always be split testing!!!

Why not try adding some review videos.

Think outside the box and you'll go far!

To be completely honest with you, the problem is that you're starting off in IM with affiliate marketing. Which is one of the harder niches within IM to successfully profit in. You have to know how to make your own compelling sales letter that will drive traffic to the product your promoting, which is, at best, difficult to do, especially with so much competition in the clickbank market. Now I'm not saying to start small, but make sure you know what you're doing before you invest anymore time.

    Keep churn out those pages.

In my early days, only about 3 out of 10 of my promotions worked. As I gained experience, the number only improved a bit.

Even a veteran marketer doesn't enjoy 100 percent success.

Your problem might be not enough traffic. But if you keep creating new promotions, you will find something that works so well for you. The usual 80/20 thing.

Since you have some software, I suggest you learn how to do it and start offering services to Fiverr, for instance. Just to get that cash flow going.

    Good luck!

on saturdays forward your domain directly to your affiliate link, then turn off on sunday night. leave as normal monday through friday. i havnt cloaked, but i hear its becoming more important. i have been doing this with no loss in serps on a serp #2 site for 6 months. before i forwarded i never got a sale, it still only make 150 a month cause its not a popular product, but its better than b4.

Matt, welcome. I got laid off last August and am still looking. You may want to look at doing some offline work until you get your sites going good. That is what I am about to start with. Got my first client just by talking to a friend of a friend, once I get him going good I will use him as a referral and start to scale it up. BTW, you can also try content locking for some offers. Content Lock Pro can help you with that.

forget trying to learn IM right now - take the easier route.

prepare some written materials about Seo and go out on foot
to local businesses who have websites and tell them you are the
guy to optimize their Seo and Social Media.

then turn around and buy services from the BHW BST thread and do
the rest of the work manually.

this way you can have money in your pocket in 3-4 weeks and some
study and research and then you can use that to build yourself a
    network of sites.

its tough making money in the beginning because not everything succeeds
so I would advise as above - even if you don't know much now - in the next
few days you need to push yourself to learn and take action.

clients are guaranteed money every month and seems that is what you need
    right now.

    cheers and goodluck

So, a little more info. I started in construction in 1998. I was laid off in June of 09. I sat for almost 2 years. I was offered a welding job with the railroad. Contrary to popular belief, Im making about a 3rd of what I was in my old job. I have a steady paycheck, insurance, pention, etc. The problem is that me making less money ia causing my wife to work more hours, hence, the struggle. Currently I work 4 10's. My kids go to bed about 8 every night. Im usually up until about midnight working. Then up at 5 for work. So just to clarify, i do have a regular check, its just that things are tight. If I could make a few hundred every week, it would help immensely.

If you got laid off, are a newb and have financial pressure, you shouldn't start wasting all your energy on one small site that at best will make you a few hundred bucks per month (and that only if you rank well for all kinds of long terms and your product converts well) With 170 uniques or so in a month this will be a tough one to make money of.

Sign up for amazon and other affiliate programs where you can promote physical products that are hot, then post your links in forums, deal sites, coupon sites etc basically everywhere where people hang out that want to shop.

You won't become rich for sure, but if you find a good method you can surely make a few grand per month and have the peace of mind to test other things on the side until you find something better...

If you have time on your hands and have decent English skills then open a Fiverr account and start writing. You can easily make $50-75 a day writing articles. There is ALWAYS a demand for article writers. If you have others in the house that can write then you can spread out the jobs and maybe make $100 a day. That will get you some cash flow while you test the waters in other areas.

Well that was the wrong thing to say.
Laid-off for three years? Or laid-around for three years?

We'll probably see a flood of long term laid off people soon. The US Gov't cut off the extended unemployment (99 weeks) because of the recent drops in unemployment numbers. They should have been learning when they had that free money coming in for 2 years.
