I know this is very off topic, but I figure a few people can give me they're opinion. I am looking for something to do for some mental discipline. I think it will help me reach my marketing and personal goals more fast and strict.

I am thinking of either Yoga meditation or Hung Gar Kung Fu. Anyone have an opinion on either one ? And is one better than the other for mental ?

Yeah I have been thinking of T'ai Chi also. I just need something to clear my mind of alot of negative self destructive thinking that I have built throughout the years.

LMFAO. I know what you mean, but when I picture Yoga I try not to think of the Americanized Yoga, I try to think of the levitating eastern guy.

Maybe try look for good martial arts teachers in your area first ?
Maybe that will make it easier for you.

I knew lesbians hugging trees and doing yoga at night, it's really strange. I can't help, yoga is a no-go :)

I'd look for martial arts that also go for fighting, you might need it one day and they keep your body in shape. Wish I had the time for such stuff, I'm locked behind my PC 28 hours a day.

T'ai Chi instructors should be easy to find, depending on where you live. I'd start with that and then maybe look into some kung fu lessons later on (or both if you have time?)

1.3 billion chinese people can't be wrong ;)

Here's a video of God himself practicing T'ai Chi in outer space (kidding)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=STHJUXtZRKs

Wow I'm amazed at the misinformation...

@tymillz: Yoga is not meditation and meditation is not yoga.. But it can go hand in hand.
And trust me if you want to learn how to focus go for meditation, it will change your life,
but don't go there with the mentality that "this is going to help me more money" go in
thinking that "this will make me a better person, more at peace with my self and those
around me who can enjoy life more".

being a karate black belt myself, i'd suggest u go to for any martial arts
i've nothing against yoga, but martial arts gives u a 3 in 1 package. it'll teach u to concentrate, u learn self defence plus u get a lot of exercise ( which is required after sitting in front of the pc for most part of the day)

I agree completely. If you decide to practice Kung Fu find a studio that also teaches Tai Chi. Many of them do. This will give you the opportunity to do both.
I really don't think you can go wrong with any martial arts style. I practice karate and will be starting aikido soon. They are really great for your overall health and well being.

I'm a yoga instructor and my brother has learned kung fu since he was 7. (he's 30 now) And we are both chinese.

I would say go for Kung Fu, if ONLY you absolutely know you have found a great master. I know there are alot of watered down kung fu places in the US. You keep practicising and yes you will learn to have more endurance (as would practicising any other sports) and will power... but those kung fu is a joke in China.

Tai Chi is absolutely great but very boring. Most of the practitioners are old citizens... they get up in the morning and do tai chi in the morning in the park together.

As for yoga, well, I love it. And so do alot of my male students. All of them are strong and ripped because yoga not only make you flexible, but it also requires TONS of core strength. So you get a six pack pretty fast. You also do alot of B-boy moves (only harder) so it's definitely fun and not for sissys.

Yoga helps you break through your comfort zone and clear your mind. It also help keeping your inner organs healthy, no joke. If you keep doing yoga, you pretty much can retain the body shape you have now.

Oh and alot of my male students told me they first started doing yoga coz they wanna perv at the girls bending over in tight clothes. Now all of them actually enjoy it.

    Any question. Lemme know!

It's hard to give you a good reply without knowing your way to be; but, if you can't decide, perhaps you will need a bit from both; thus go for Tibetan Buddha's Palm exercises.

The beauty of the game is to find the method and find a good instructor or master.

    Go for Buddha's Palm.
