Hi everybody,
Welcome to my journey to $100/day! I've been reading the forum on and off for around a year now, however I've only recently created an account so I can engage more with the community and document my journey. This is my first official online venture, and hopefully it'll be a successful one.
Around 4 months ago, I created a website in a niche I really enjoy in the hopes of eventually earning a steady, consistent $100/day. I've not done any form of keyword research or SEO on the website so far, as I've only really written articles that sprung to mind. As of today, the website has 76 articles, each ranging from around 750-2,000 words.
My long-term plan is to have the website recognised more as a magazine/authority site, rather than just your basic blog.
The website is currently receiving on average around 600 visitors a month, despite not attempting to rank it. The biggest thing I wanted to build with the website is an email list, which I started on day one. I found a nice little free method to build my email list with targeted subscribers, and so far I've added 423 people to my list. The primary use of the list at the moment is to continually provide free high quality content to my subscribers, build a good relationship and send traffic back to the website through links to both new and old articles. I drive the traffic through an automated email sequence I have pre-written that is about 36 emails long at the moment, and I'm adding to it daily. The list explains most of the traffic to the website so far, however I have also been receiving about 20% of my traffic from Google too.
I have already signed up with a few affiliate companies in my niche and put their ads on my website, more just to test placement and the aesthetics of it all; however yesterday somebody clicked one of the ads and spent $500 through my link, earning me a commission of $77.68 which was a nice surprise! Along with affiliate ads, I placed AdSense ads on the site too back in September, which earned me $2.53, so it's really motivating to see the potential is there.
My overall goal is to hit that magical $100/day so many of us newbies seem to be chasing, and hopefully build a solid online business in the process. As for monetisation, I'll most likely stick to website ads for the duration of this journey, and experiment between AdSense and affiliate ads as the traffic increases, to see which perform the best. A potential large-scale monetisation plan I'd love to pursue in the distant future is to sell informational products through an email sales funnel, as from the research I've seen, it's extremely lucrative when done correctly.
I have a Pinterest account in the same niche that I've been growing for the past year which currently sits at 16.5k followers, an Instagram account with 7,433 followers and a facebook page with 821 followers. I've been growing the Pinterest and Instagram account through the basic follow/unfollow method, and the Facebook page through Share4Share with other similar sized pages in the same niche.
Over the course of this journey I'd love to be able to provide motivation for others and offer some insight into what's working for me, so you can benefit too. As I progress, I'd also love to be a little more transparent with things such as the niche I'm in, and the detailed methods I'm using. I'm nothing more than a newbie that's reading, learning and most importantly taking action and executing. I hope this journey motivates other newbies to just take action and give it a go, implementing new things they learn along the way.
Apologies if my answers to any questions aren't the most detailed or comprehensive, I'm extremely new to this but I'll always try my best to reply in the best detail I can. If any of you more experienced guys see me doing something wrong or feel like pointing me in the right direction, It'd be greatly appreciated. I'll be checking in every 1-2 days with new stats for those that are interested, along with new goals that I wish to accomplish. I really hope you guys enjoy my journey, and with luck my actions and success will assist you on your own personal journey - thanks!
P.S. Next to each statistic will be a number in brackets with either a green plus sign or a red negative sign, that way you can see whether it has gone up or down.
