So I have been looking for easy keywords to rank. I was wondering whats wrong with having keywords less then 800 a month searches?

Most books say 1k-5k is what you should be looking for but its getting harder to find those types of gems.

I wouldn't base a whole site on a keyword that low, but I would go after it with a page, or article.

No just articles. Like articlebase.com not a whole site. So you thinking the numbers dont matter too much if its for a article?

    alright heres the situation ,
You go for a keyword with 800 exact searches.. which means that keyword is being searched 26 times a day average. so your site better be on the top 5 so that you get atleast 10 visitors getting on your site and may be 1 clicking on the ads.

Well i wouldn't got for 800 searches.. get 2000 atleast so even if you are somewhere on the first page you still get a few getting on your site..
    do the maths.

    hope this helps

Alright thanks. But what if its just an article I can write 100 articles and get them ranked easy, because its no competition. Right? So wouldn't it matter on quantity? I wouldn't do this for a whole website

If you are planning on doing it (not recommend, but possible), just keep researching till you have about 100 keywords in the same niche. 100x800 searches a month is 80K/month too. Best of luck.

I would like at it from a r.o.i. perspective.

    800 searches per month
If you get to the top you can estimate a 42% click through rate (as per seobook.com) meaning you will get 280-350 visitors per month.

How many of those visitors can you monetize?

For example, 300 visitors per month and 10% monetize at $1 each, means you will get 30 people to earn you $1.00 each per month for a monthly income of $30 or $360 per year.

That's half of the equation. Now figure your expenses and be sure to include what your time is worth.

If it takes you one hour to write the article or build the site and you value your time at $20 per hour then you have a winner.

    Income Year $360
Expenses $20 (one hour of work?)
    Gross Profit $340

Of course this is a very simplified example but hopefully it helps.

    Other things to ask yourself.

Is the keyword trending? Will it increase or decrease? Is it a buying keyword?
Are there related keywords you will rank for that could bring more traffic?

This is a somewhat related tip - always look at trends in google keyword tool. Keywords with rising search volume are obviously more worth pursuing than the ones with declining search volume.

    Alright thanks everyone.

Btw this is for an article im not making a website. So no expenses. I understand the numbers but I'm promoting CB and I would do about 5 -10 keywords per product. So even if it is 300 per month for each keyword times that by 5 or 10 would be 1500-3000. I wouldn't based a website over that at all!

It all just depends on how much work you are willing to put in for just a few visitors a month. Writing and submitting and article is pretty easy, so you could definitely target lower volume KWs
