Just write and don't worry about density.

Google is smart enough to know what a page is about and if keyword density made any difference it would be minimal and not even worth thinking about. If anything you would be making the page worse by giving a bad user experience by making the page look spammy.

If you write it with a good flow without thinking about keyword density, you will land up with something around 1-3%

Recently, I don't care about keyword density anymore, even if it's under 1% I still able to rank those pages without any problem.

The key is(as suggested above), to write in good flow. Right the best you can and make it all sense, make it interesting use words which are easy to understand.

Use, headings and this is your opportunity to use your keywords in H1, H2 or H3 headings, but don't overstuffed it.

And, after you wrote your whole article, sprinkle throughout the article some LSI keywords, but again, don't overstuffed it and be sure the LSI keywords you will be adding make sense, don't just insert it anywhere...keep the good flow of the sentences this will reinforce your onpage SEO.

Use images in your articles with proper tagging. If you're adding several images, use alternate alt tags and don't always use your keyword in the images, use other long-tail or related keywords in your images and make sure it is closely related to the images. If you put an image of a tiger, use tags related to it and not putting an alt-tag of sports car.

As I said, me personally, I have pages rank with less than 1% keyword density. Make your content friendly and constantly add fresh contents to your site.

Recommended is between 2% - 3%, but like others said - doesn't matter anymore, just make it nice for reading. If people like it, and if you put social sharing buttons below the post, people tend to share link to facebook, twitter, google plus etc and that is making much better impact in serps than thinking about how much some word is repeated in article.

Write for readers, and tweak for the search engines. I usually try to keep it between 2% and 5%. You also want to make sure you're using relevant content to the keywords.

The only time I really adjust the keyword density is if it's below the 2% or way above the 5%.

Keyword density should be 1.5% for articles and 3% for website content.
