    Hi,

Our site is ranking in top 10 or top 20 for a competitive keyword in other Google properties (china, hk, brazil, uk, India, Indonesia) but it won't rank in top 500 for Google.com or Google US.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

Try this little trick. Where are you located in Google.com? Go to a crowd sourcing site such as Microworkers.com or is it Micro-workers.com or MechanicTurk.com and put up a gig to go to Google.com and find your site (if you tell them it will help get more people doing the job faster) and click on your site. After your siet loads, they must not back up to google and leave the site up for 20-30 seconds, then close the browser so G does not get any data from them as to how long the site is up.

I don't know how many gigs you will need, but 100 at five to ten or even fifteen cents isn't all that much money. You will see a rise in your listing. Depending on how far down will determine how much it will cost you.

Make sure you have an enticing title and description so when it does get on first page you will get organic traffic. Iff your site sucks, this will not help you much as after you get on first page and people are going there, you will get a lot of bounce. So first thing is to make sure you have a good reason for people to stay and read your site.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply but I am not sure if it will work. I checked Analytics and I see around 600 visits from users within USA who used Google to search for our website. The bounce rate is around 30%. They came to our website using the brand and other keywords. The only problem is we are not able to rank for the main keyword. We do rank for variations of the keyword.

Another problem is I cant hire workers to search for a specific keyword because we don't rank for that keyword at all in Google USA. We only rank for it in other Google properties.

I just checked stats in Google webmaster and Google is saying in United States, the keyword is ranked 21st on Aug 23, 2012. When I search for it, I don't see it anywhere. Yes, I tested it with multiple IP's. No clue what to make of this ????

    Could you/he be in demotion/penalty?

Does Penguin punish based on country, i.e. could a site be demoted in one country while still be ranked in another?

First time hear this method, interesting.
Does it work if doing by using different ips and clear the cookie before visiting the page? If so, it can be done by alone easily.

Actually this makes sense. Google has said they are considering bounce rate and time on site as a way to gauge the user experience.

I know but isn't 30% bounce rate really good? Average website bounce rate is around 40%, so we are doing better when compared to most sites. If going by the bounce rate, we should rank in Google. I guess only thing left to do is just wait and see. No clue what's going on.

Fuck the penguin, that shit is totally retarded. I have a new blog with unique and very well written content and updated regularly. It dropped all of a sudden and is no where to be found. Some crappy article site with equally crappy page is now ranking. The article directory page does not even provide correct information and the entire article reads like a 5 year old's attempt at being knowledgable and profound.

Do not understand how google thinks that page is valuable to the user.

A good bounce rate is hard to quantify. I have a FAQ page that gives all the answers customers want which ranks top 3 for shitloads of terms. It has a bouncerate of over 70%, because no-one needs to go further into the site.

This page while also being a great entry point and lead generator for me prevents 100's of repetitive pointless emails from people whio have already paid me, so I'm well happy with that bounce rate. I

f I had anything over 40% for any of my product pages I'd be pretty stressed about it though!
