keyword.website.com or website.com/keyword

Ok guys and gals,

It is time to chime in. I have researched the white hat world of this question and have found differing opinions. Some white hat SEO types say that...

keyword.website.com is better and some say website.com/keyword is better.

One guy I found made the argument that

keyword.website.com/keyword was best.

So BHW members its your turn. Which format do you think (have proven LOL) is best for SEO.

I would rather have the keyword in my domain to have the most efficient results.

I totally agree, however many of the "good" keyword domains are long gone.

y not get keyword-keyword.info domains, there are plenty of those left and longer tail keywords are easier to target anyway.

google views subdomains as a completely different domain for the most part

actually matt cutts just talked about this. the google guy says that both work just fine.

OVERUSING the keyword in your domain will hurt it....use it once.

My vote is for website.com/keyword. But that is a personal preference. I typically subdomains when I want to add stuff like forums and other sections I want to distinguish from the main site.

I was thinking about this earlier and I would have to say through researching, I have found that sites with the/keyword to usually be in higher ranking than the .keyword.whatever
However I have seen some exceptins
