Maybe in Ahrefs is checking a single location, while SEMRush shows you the global search volume

No search volume is accurate so just use for relative comparisons.
Kw1 = 300
Kw2 = 10000
Therefore Kw2 gets more searches than kw1
Even the Google kw planner is inaccurate for seo. It is designed for advertisers so it gives an idea of how mamy impressions your ad will get when bidding on a kw.
That is a far cry from search volume.
But all the tools use different ways of getting estimates and no one tool is the authority.
Marketers will all have different opinions on their favorite tools and which is best.

Trust no SEO tool when it comes to monthly search volume. If you have access to both tools, use an average between them. After all, Ahrefs and SEMRush are the top 2 best all-in-one SEO tools on the market.

Check Ubersuggest kw volume too. The more tools you check, the better average you get.

Ahrefs has a different algorithm for calculating search volume using data from gkp & Clickstream.

Keywords Everywhere is great to have running on your Chrome as a plugin. If you have Surfer that shows numbers too.
Semrush is more accurate than Ahrefs for traffic numbers, I say to clients whatever Ahrefs shows it's usually 2-3 times that number.

I usually pop them into google and see if autosuggest fills up the rest of the kw
