    Hey everyone,

So, I have my main domain with business listings for a particular niche. The URL structure goes like this:

    domain.com/specialty/state

I could do SEO for all 50 state pages (on the main website) but I also happen to have all 50 state domains which go like this:

state + specialty.extension --> Just replace specialty with the niche that I'm in.

The question is: Would I be better off optimizing the separate state sites to support the main brand because of the sheer amount of effort it would take to do the same thing with the main website? Looking forward to your thoughts!

Hmm, personally, I think I'd go with one website. While it will be more at risk from Google slaps, it'll be much easier to rank.

50 websites take a lot of time to build, write unique content for, and then backlink (not to mention the upfront and ongoing cost of hosting). I'd say start with a couple, make sure you can rank them, and then perhaps add more sites over time. It's better to spend time on your ranking techniques rather than spending weeks and weeks just building them all.
