Now if you are still on the fence, let me just give you a bit of color. that we have looked at the rankings and the weights that we give to keyword domains, & some people have complained that we are giving a little too much weight for keywords in domains. So we have been thinking about at adjusting that mix a bit and sort of turning the knob down within the algorithm, so that given 2 different domains it wouldn't necessarily help you as much to have a domain name with a bunch of keywords in it.

So, all the keywords rich unused domains will drop in price now?

It is early to say anything about it but if that is what implemented in the algo then surely prices will drop as well as rankings (may be) !

I don't think kw rich domains will be hit, unless they are shitty 4 page sites with low visitor time.

This means that keyword rich domains still have the edge and are still the way to go, they just need to be backed right up with with keyword anchor targeted backlinks.

I have been seeing some of this in some of the niches I cover bloody spoil sports I say!

I can see big G's revenues take a hit, or will all this lead to advertisers paying more thus bigger profits for Google.

He doesn't say anything about them doing anything at all. He says they've considering throttling the weight given to the metric down a little bit. Whoopity doo. Hardly anything to get your panties in a bunch over at this point.

I dont see how G could attack ALL domains with keywords in them but I do see a point when he says they might turn the weightage down a bit - the first ones to be hit (if this ever takes place) would be the ones that have the usual prefix and/or suffix words..best, thebest, guide, new, online, hq, etc where it is evident that the purpose is primarily to get a particular keyword in the domain name for SEO.

Speculations 101. They must come from time to time with some crazy ideas that will get dropped in the long run.

    I like this idea.

It's stupid for a site to rank higher just because someone got the keyword1keyword2keyword3.com domain.

Exactly - they still have value and if you have half-decent sites and links you probably won't notice much of a change at all in your rankings...

They can't simply de-value all exact match domains. Just think of all those big companies that hold exact match domains and paid big bucks for it (e.g. shoes dot com). i dont think that they would be happy about it. When I google for amazon, i want my first result to be amazon, when i google for target i want my first result to be target etc. and not some other weird result, that doesnt make sense. So my guess is that exact match domains will still hold their value and when they provide good content and are seo optimized they will hold their position in the serps as well.

Why on Earth is it stupid? If you own BicycleHelmets.com, and are selling bicycle helmets, doesn't it make perfect fucking sense that you are the best choice for "bicycle helmet" searches? Even if they throttle the weight back a little bit BicycleHelmets.com will always be the best choice domain for selling bicycle helmets...
