    Hey there Cyberkalki!

Welcome to BHW! Good keyword research is arguably the most important skill you can have as an internet marketer... There're lots of posts here on the topic, but here's the best of them by far in my opinion:

Also, try using the search function here, I'm sure you can find lots of other guides and helpful posts on the topic! Good luck! :)

1 mistake - a Low competition keyword DOES NOT mean there aren't searches for it!

Also its recommended for beginners to target such keywords, otherwise its too hard.

The links above are great sources of how you should do your research. Wish you good luck with that!

    Cheers,
    Hades

I agree, when you focus on keywords that bring in much less traffic such as 2,000 searches a month and the SEO competition is medium then you will get better results when you start offsite SEO.

    How to do keyword research?
Proper keyword research can help you optimize your website in a more efficient manner. Use of LSI keywords is encouraged.
-Check how competitive your keywords are (Select keywords with less competition and high searches)
-Keywords should be relevant to the content your website offers.
-Check for the popularity of keyword among users(monthly searches)
-Keywords should be a blend of Short tail , long tail and LSI keywords.
-Keyword density also plays an important role
You can go for light keyword research by using Google adwords tool.
I need to check the profitability of keywords so I prefer ?keyword country? for extensive keyword research and it works for me.
